Hopkins is overrated.

OK, so having said that, is the rest of that garbage a serious post or a level? Personally, I don't think you're serious.:blood

I think that you took it a little too far here. At 154 Winky had no power. At light heavy where he fought bernard they may was well have been slap boxing.

He misunderstood it but I didn't.

Even with the care of writing in a green tone to make it discreet, Pride of Wales whom I respect, tried to pass the idea that, refined or not, this is a low risk fight for Joe that has its main goal to boost his name and achive/command a massive purse in his next fight . Calzaghe's objective ever since his first World title defense against Croatian soldier Branko Sobot was to fight in the States and against someone like Hopkins or Jones...You are being untrue and blasphemous for saying that Hopkins is now nothing more than a number and a low risk opponent for Calzaghe. The World has not flip-flopped in the meantime. Joe has never proven himself at the world level before fighting Lacy and Kessler and never fought outside the UK. Therefore, this is a tough test/high reward fight for Cal... He may come cool and confident with the support of the welsh fans in the Planet Hollywood Arena but he may come in a rush, sloppy and outa control like Hide against Bowe... This is going to be a very close and very boring fight wich can only be appreciated by attentive spectators, not by die-hard fans and casual fans... Hops' age is completely misleading cause he's not a normal 43 year older and Calzaghe is not a twenty year old, he's 34 or more... Still, Cal's fans are deluding themselves for taking him as what he is not but I guess this will go on and on until April...

You don't even know what you're talking about. He never defeated anybody in Calzaghe's league, you just simply don't like Calzaghe due to some nonsense posted in the British forum by an unreliable source. The only fighter in history that would defeat Calzaghe at 168 at his very best is Roy Jones Jr.

But I'll also say that Carlos Monzon gives him a run for his money and loses close at 168, does better than Hopkins could possibly do.

Hopkins, even at his physical peak, is not as good a fighter as Calzaghe. In the same league of course, but not on the same spot, not at all.

He's at his peak skill wise and experience wise, just not physically. In all honesty, Calzaghe is maybe 65% of his physical peak with speed and power. This is just masked by his tremendous skill level and his tremendous workrate, as well as still relevant foot speed. Handspeed is severely diminished, but his footspeed is still at 80% or more and his timing is still excellent to where he can pop in and out and land a shot and then flurry, all working off of his foot positioning and movement.

Calzaghe's quick movement in and out, combined with his own skill-set and ability to wreck his opponent's gameplans would have given Hopkins problems. Even in his prime, he beats him. Now he beats him even more clearly.

Exactly, some Calzaghe fans were blamed for trying to talk up Kessler as something he's not to glorify the win and then for trying to glorify all wins. This up coming blow out against Hopkins, is only going to deserve minor credit, just for shredding the old man alone.

As an opponent, he's basically just a top 10 LHW on his current ability level at age 43.

Even if he wins every round, a 120-108 UD, and does not stop him in a brutal display, I will give him no credit for the win at all.

Calzaghe is 36 years old and has produced the performances of his career at this declining phase against Lacy and Kessler. Very focused and consistent, very fast-handed and accurate with both opponents. He has very good skills and tremedous workrate to have made it for him in recent fights cause he doesn't have a big punch or dazzling boxing moves. Footspeed should be good but he can't move in and out, all working off the footwork and under any circumstances. What should be criticized here is the complete disregard for his opposition - Bernard Hopkins' sense of timing and of positioning, control of distance, defense and counter-offense are better than Calzaghe's, he has sharper, stronger punches, actually, he's stronger and rougher, he has better boxing instincts, aggressive instincts than Calzaghe and he has more boxing intelligence ( strategically-wise) than Cal. All of this makes it a pretty even match - a good technical fight with tactical wisdom and smart moves dictating it. Even Cal expects this to be a FOTY, I wouldn't go that far but that should say about Cal's own expectation about the evenness of the confrontation.

If he loses two rounds, I'm going to be extremely disapointed with Joe.

Calzaghe will never stop Hopkins. I don't care if Hopkins is 60. Calzaghe will not KO him. EVER. I'm willing to bet the house on it

If he wins a round, I'm going to be pissed at Calzaghe for allowing it to happen and I mean this if he wins one cleanly, not a 'close feeling out round'.

He can't beat him at this point, so this is all just ridiculous.

The only thing to even discuss is HOW Calzaghe's going to beat him, impressively or unimpressively, because Hopkins has no chance.

A totally prime Hopkins? No, but he does present a ton of issue's for him and it's going to be very competitive.

The 2000 and above declining Hopkins? Yes, he beats him.

    The post-Taylor Hopkins? Massacre's him.
