Totally disagree. I WANT to see this fight. It will be a great match between two legends of the last two decades!!!
If you believe that then you are mentally ******ed about the sport, cause Johnson is a no power heavyweight that has only beat B- level fighters. I laugh at you're lack of boxing knowledge
Get the hell out of here! That's GARBAGE! Jones always made negotiations difficult. He wanted no part of Michalcweski, no part of a Hopkins rematch, and no part of Jirov. There's a reason ROY avoided all those fights. Not in my opinion. :smoke
I don't want to see this fight. Waste of a promotion and there are young fighters now who need the recognition. By the way, when was Jones ever in a great match?
They will have their time. Now it is time for two of the legends of the last 20 years to settle their unfinished business!!
Well for all those years both were on top of their game and a rematch was proposed it obviously didn't mean that much to him, not budging on his ridiculous 60-40 purse demand. How the hell can he call for this fight now with any credibility after Roy has just been sparked by Green (who Hop himself implied was a nobody)? You can't give Hop any sympathy on this.
John Mugabi used to throw wide punches which would land on the back of the head, the ref didn't stop the fight and say ok that is a rabbit punch. If a fighter ducks into a punch and it hits the back of his head it is not a rabbit punch. Look at Frank Bruno and Tyson in 1989. Talk about rabbit punches. But when bend into a punch, that is not a rabbit punch. You can find a camera angle to look like a rabbit punch, but doesn't mean it is. Thomas Hearns threw a punch at Ray Leonard in the rematch in 1989 which against Duran worked but against Ray didn't. He threw a jab to the body and would confuse his opponents and throw to the head. Duran did not duck in 1984, and Leonard in 1989 ducked and it pulled Leonard down. It did hit Ray on the back of the head, but that was not a rabbit punch, even though Ray said it was a foul. That was not a rabbit punch. Jones was knocked out legit. What do you guys want- For the refs to not stop fights and let them go until a guy is on his back just so your excuses are not used later? Even with Duran and Hearns, Duran was knocked cold and still excuses persisted. You have to give the winners credit.
Nope, Hop always overpriced himself out of the fight demanding 60-40 and no less. Roy was the bigger draw, plus Hop was the one who needed Roy for his legacy. He should've taken 40-60 if he really wanted the fight, which was fair imo.
Hopkins had this fight set in his mind and he cannot let it go.. But if he fights Jones it will be a waste of his time. He is 45 next month, wasting a half a year or more on a Jones fight just wastes more precious time. He should fight Dawson or go up to heavyweight.
And I laugh at you thinking Roy's level of opposition is equal to Hopkins' in the past three or four years. And no, I do not think that, but in my opinion it's about as outlandish as what you're saying regarding Roy being in his prime, or closer to it, than Hopkins is. A fighter's prime is based off how he performs. Roy performed based on his athletic talents, Hopkins performed based on his knowledge and boxing IQ. Hopkins can still perform in his way better than Roy can. Plain and simple.
of the past 15 years not 20. They are great fighters, but you cannot just put a man in there who was just knocked out and say ok fight Hopkins. The names are there, but what is the price? What if Jones gets stopped in 4 rounds by Hopkins? Did that help anyone?
ah ok got back to this a little late.. ya to us it might mean **** to him it means a lot.. to us i meant fans.. me personally i wanna watch it its still interesting
