He dominated every fighter he faced in the last 14 years and that includes 6 former UNDISPUTED champions (not to mention belt holders): Tito, DLH, Winky, Johnson, Tarver, Taylor. The only one that STOPPED DLH and Tito. The only one that DOMINATED Winky, Tarver and Glen Johnson. Tarver, Johnson (who kicked RJJ's ass) and also Tito, 3 great fighters, didn't win a SINGLE ROUND against him out of 35 rounds(an almost unhuman achivement, if you think about it). He's the greatest fighter of the last 20 years alongside Whitaker, top 30 pound for pound ever easily. And he is the best current sportsman over the age of 40. Yes, he is not so fun to watch at times but he is the only true legend in today's boxing world (maybe Barrera also). And I don't care what the haters in this site say, the real fans know who the man is, long live the king of the ring, the X man.
Tito and DLH had no place at middleweight, tarver was past his best (anyone seen his recent debacle against a midget from Albania), he didn't dominate winky, and he lost both decisions to taylor. That said B-HOP IS a great fighter, a hall of famer to be and one of the best in the last 20 years. But get your facts straight.
"He dominated Winky"- I meant that he is the only one who clearly beat him. to beat Winky clearly, 8-4, is the best you can ask against such a skilled fighter when you are 42 years old. Taylor beat Hopkins like Urango beat Rabah, like D-Hop beat Forbes, like Bell beat Dale Brown. In other words, complete bull****. they gave the decison to the HBO guy. Taylor should have 4 loses by now, the FBI should inquire the results of the fights he is involved in.
Right you are. Hopkins is a clear P4P all-time great, top 20 no doubt - and either one or two at MW. Some don't appear to recognize this now, but perhaps with time, they will.
Hopkins should be consider one the best of all time... but i dont agree with u saying that he won all rounds with the opponents u name, what I believe Hopkins is really underestimated is for his mastermind, he knows how to take u out of your gameplan in the last minute...
Odlh was a spent force at middle, heck some say sterm beat him....Trinidad has shown he gets beat every time by a boxer at middle, though that is a good win by hop. Johnson seems a good win now,but how good was johnson back then? Tarver seems a good win,but was he on the slide and weight drained? Anyway, hoppo lost clearly to jones and lost TWICE or at the very least let JT run him very close.....How good is JT in the atg scheme of things? Hoppo also spent his prime years beating on a weak middleweight field, whe he could have challenged jones,calzaghe,g-man,jackson,benn,eubank,toney,hill or other good light heavies.....This man had a chance to truely put a great resume together but missed his chance....He is an atg but not on the level of the very top guys like leonard, hearns, ali and such like.....He never dared to be great, just like PBF,he just wants to look good on paper whilst not making the bigger challenges against the best possible opposition.....Each of the fab four put bernards safety first fighting and safety first picking of opponents to shame....Im glad jones and jermaine T showed the world b-hops limitations or else who knows what folks would be saying about his rating and status.....
I dont really have a fave fighter,i just appreciate guys with skills and who are exciting......The fighter i really rate is SRL.....Go on,destroy his legacy and resume if you can.....
he did not dominate winky by any means. Winky was in the fight every step of the way and most of the rounds in that fight could have gone either way. I'd say Vasquez definatly dominated Winky more
Hopkins is one of those guys who will be more entertaining to read about him in a history book than actually seeing him in action. For my part, he should either create the Senior tour or start fighting guys in their twenties or early 30s
Top20 ATG no doubt. I still think he's below this guys (at least).. Ray Robinson Henry Armstrong Willie Pep Muhammad Ali Archie Moore Roberto Duran Ray Leonard Joe Gans Benny Leonard Ezzard Charles Pernell Whitaker Julio Cesar Chavez Roy Jones Emile Griffith Harry Greb Mickey Walker Barney Ross
