How will you feel if he loses to Roy again? Provided Roy gets by green and Bernard his tune-up...

i agree it was very clear when i was watching the fight that the momentum shifted during the 5th round on and speed and workrate are bernards biggest enemies.

Those are the four who can make an argument for top spot, I believe. No one else can really make the claim.

It would look very bad if Hopkins lost to Roy at this stage, and Hopkins likely won't even really get much credit for beating Roy at this stage either, so in a sense it is lose/lose for Hopkins. The only upside being "getting revenge over someone who beat him", which counts for something, I suppose.

If Hopkins was in his prime when he fought Calzaghe, then what would that make Jermaine Taylor, who beat Hopkins twice years before JC and Hopkins fought?

Hopkins should rank as one of the best fighters of ALL time. He never ducked anyone, always fought the best, still improving now in his 40s. INcredible longevity at the highest level of the sport. By contrast, SRR got beat up in his late 30's. SRR, his trainer George Gainsford admitted, had to be protected from tall boxers with good jabs. As great as SRR was, as great as his record was, this fact is on the record. Dont forget, Hopkins signed to fight Toney at 190 but when they cut his purse in half, the fight got killed. Hopkins was also for fighting Maskaev, but didn't get the shot. How bout them cojones?

Reason Hopkins is as great as he is, is he never had a handpicked fight, never was protected, he was always being set up by the establishement who was trying to take his titles. This is part of what motivated Hopkins to stay sharp and become as great as he did. The system finally stole them belts with Taylor but Taylor didn't do enough to win either of those two fights. We know that.

Hopkins didn't feast on small guys, that's a lazy assumption. He was disciplined and dedicated enough to stay at one weight, like Hagler, Monzon. I agree Rooney, Hopkins is the greatest fighter of this modern era, and perhaps one of the very best of all time. They should make a movie about this guy.

Hopkins is not better now than he was when he lost to RJJ.Years before JC and Hopkins fought,he lost twice to Jermaine Taylor.Once you might get away with claiming fluke, but twice? No.

You CLEARLY do not understand the circumstances. Hopkins was killing himself to make 160lbs and had limited energy in both Taylor fights, still managing to make them close enough to make an argument for wins. That's an accomplishment itself against the young lion that was Taylor. Prime for prime, Hopkins would undoubtedly have handled Taylor. That period of his fighting days were marked by being at too low a weight.

If this were true, then how the **** did he weight JUST 156 pounds JUST 10 months earlier when he fought DeLaHoya?I think I understand the circumstances QUITE clearly.

...So you really don't think Hopkins was having difficulty making weight?

What does Hopkins' criminal record have to do with anything? He served time in prison for it.

Edit: Nevermind, I never should have played into the troll's hand.
