Hopkins is one of the greatest tacticians the sport of boxing has ever seen but why did Calzaghe make superior adjustments to beat him when the likes of Trinidad, De La Hoya, Robert Allen, Hakkar, Tarver, Pavlik, Johnson, Cloud, Pascal couldn't?

Notice that this guy put Hakkar in the same sentence as De La Hoya and Tito Trinidad.
You guessed it, he's just trolling.
Ignore him and he'll go away.

Very harsh Viva, Hakkar was a quality mandatory and belongs in the same category as Oscar and Felix as Hopkins master-classes imo

B-Hop simply solved the hakkar puzzle and made the necessary in-fight adjustments.

Great thread, HEAD. He couldn't solve the Zaggers puzzle. 45 tried, and 45 failed.

    Its an interesting conundrum :deal

Hopkins was so clever tactically, he worked opponents out as the fight wore on. With Calzaghe, Hopkins had every advantage ( the ref, the judges, the venue, the weight) and yet he couldn't capitalize on a great 1st rounds, why was that? :huh

simply because calzaghe was awkward as hell, unpredictable, a southpaw, and a bloody good fighter in his own right.

great boxer, tacticians are able to anticipate and react. But with a guy like calzaghe- they have the most trouble- look at floyd may weather- his toughest fight? emanual augustus. not the best fighter- but he had the traits to trouble him and give him a headache.

Calzaghe made Hopkins look like a fool. So did Dawson, Taylor, Jones, etc...............Hopkins refused to fight Kovalev when Kovalev was Hopkins' mandatory. Hopkis said he would never fight Kovalev or Stevenson.........

What was his strategy against Dawson? I know he was old as hell, but that was way too easy for Dawson.

And the judges were Hopkins judges in Hopkins' own territory. It was Calzaghe who traveled over seas to fight Hopkins. I saw the fight, Calzaghe made him look like a fool. Taylor, Dawson, Jones, etc., all made Hopkins look a fool. I did like Hopkins as a middleweight, but never liked him after he went up in weight..................Kovalev and Stevenson are Hopkins' worst nightmare...............

Resume is a bit thin when you have to prop up a very close, indecisive fight with a 43 year old who knocked you down as some great win. No?
