I'm Korean and I don't think BHOP talking about the white boy was racist at all. Plus Hopkins won the fight.

Not that I am a fan of either guy, but this was just a bad style match-up for an old Hopkins. Hopkins needs to keep the pace slower these days. He's been out worked by lesser guys than JC over recent years.

WTF... Racism is racism. Doesn't matter which side you are on. That's just fckn stupid. All boxing ability aside, Hopkins is clearly a racist and I don't think he even tries to hide it.

Hopkins is a great tactician, but Calzaghe is also.
I think Hopkins possibly came in with a gameplan against Calzaghe, but Calzaghe adapted and Hopkins didnt have a plan B, whilst Calzaghe made adjustments and won. Thats how I saw it. Clear win for Calzaghe.
Calzaghe didnt beat Hopkins on workrate, but beat Hopkins because he was able to land his left more than Hopkins could land his right.

Also Calzaghe boxed in the slick European style, that is very hard for fighters who are not aware of that style

I agree, Calzaghe ultimately won the fight because he outlanded Hopkins. But that high output certainly gave Hopkins hell.

No. As an Asian American I think it is people who call themselves "white" who are the racists.
Bernard Hopkins is just a hard working black man in a racist country.

If he visited Korean with Dennis Rodman he would be treated better than white racists in America treat him.
Joe Calzaghe, he no welcome in Korea. He better off fukking sheep in Wales. :-(

Hopkins vs Calzaghe discussion still remains one of the most underrated topics of ESB. The regular folk were not able to realise Hopkins vs Calzaghe was not just pugilism but was also a battle of the hearts and minds. Bailey said Calzaghe won because he landed his left more than Hopkins landed his right, but that is bull**** he knows this himself. This fight was more than just a left hand or a right hand, it was where the fighter showed his brain, heart and his balls to come out on top.

I think Calzaghe started off the fight giving Hopkins too much respect, and was also a little shaken from fighting for a paper title at a new weight category in the opponents home country. Hopkins on the other hand gave Calzaghe no respect, and being the strategical genius who thrives on intimidation he took advantage of Calzaghe tentativeness and was able to boss early using superior counter punching ability.

Calzaghe then countered Hopkins counter punching by doing what he does best, quick fast slap flurries at a high workrate not giving Hopkins room, time or breathing space. To this Hopkins countered by doing what he does best, dirty fighting, headbutts, lowblows, clinching..... etc all that was required to disrupt Calzaghe's dangerous two fisted barrage of non stop slaps.

This frustrated Calzaghe and got him hard so he went to **** Hopkins instead, Hopkins wanted a dirty fight, and Calzaghe made it even dirtier by dry humping Hopkins in the tenth round. Hopkins then adjusted to this new dirty tactic from Calzaghe and pulled out some oscar winning performances, started calling fouls and used his superior acting skills to further frustrate Calzaghe even more than he was already as well as buying time.

So Hopkins never really got out-thought by Joe Calzaghe, in the strategical battle Hopkins still came out on top by ad******g to the adjustment Calzaghe made countering the counter Hopkins established towards Calzaghe, which at the end of the fight had Joe Calzaghe completely frustrated, depressed and heading towards cocaine to numb the mental torture Hopkins inflicted on him.

Just look at this picture it shows the frustration:-

because 'black boy' has slave connotations, and Joe isn't idiot enough to not see this.

'white boy' has no such connotation.

so what. If he lost that is not a genius. What is the definition of success in boxing? Losing in your 40s? Who cares. If you are going to fight at 40s, then win. otherwise there is no genius.

no the key in boxing is to fight when you can be at your best without excuses. If the point of fighting is to fight with an excuse, you are shortchanging the fans and boxing. He loses, oh well he is 45. Well then don't fight. No one likes excuses.
