Hard to understand it when you can't play that youtube video in my computer right now.

he basically said Calzaghe does a lot of quick (light) punches....and while they don't do much damge....it's very difficult to get the timing to counter punch him and due to that he will always score points with judges.... even though they're only pitter patter punches.

This shows B-Hop found it difficult to fight Calzaghe.... and as much as B-Hop made Calzaghe look bad.... Calzaghe also made B-Hop look bad..... they both showed in their following bouts..... that both are still very good fighters

He said Joe is the harder opponent because of the volume of punches he throws. He said even if the punches aren't as effective, for scoring 10 ineffective punches are harder to deal with then 3 effective punches coming from a defensive standpoint and the judges see it as he is winning the fight if you don't match his output.

    Thanks.

I just saw their fight again, and I believe if Hopkins come out with guns blazing and more aggressive, he could win this one out, though for now, Calzaghe would be the favorite if ever there is a rematch.

The comparison can't really be made by Hopkins considering the two completely different stages of his career he fought them at, and the stages of their careers Calzaghe and Jones were at when he fought them. Useless.

"Hopkins" and "guns blazing" don't belong in one sentance.

Hopkins prefers to disect his opponents and also "use their best weapon against them" - unfortunately he couldn't do it with Joe, that's why he found it so hard.

Also, even though he promised to be more exciting/attacking post-pavlik, I don't think he will change his style. He just wants more better offers in future from HBO, even though HBO really dislike his style....They didn't even make BHop vs Calzaghe PPV....and Tito vs RJJ was.

So, who in your opinion fought the "better" Hopkins - JC or RJJ?

Considering Hopkins rates his last performance as his best - even better than his Trinidad performance?

i'd hardly call it useless sweetpea if he's fought both of them. i certainly find it more " useful " than listening to various know-alls, bullshitters and kids on a forum

Many people also respect Calzaghe. If you can't see how that can be then I suggest you need to try harder. Know thine enemy. You don't need to agree with someone to understand where they're coming from. To not understand is your failure, not theirs.

Is someone going to try to say that Calzaghe slapped Jones, too? He beat the crap out of him.

The comparison is justified. Hopkins knows he fought Jones early in his career, and he also knows both Jones and Calzaghe were at different stages. What Hopkins is obviously saying is that he found Calzaghe harder and more awkward to fight than Jones. Irrespective if he fought each 14 years apart.

He's simpy calling it as he sees it. No harm with that at all.

Styles make fights, thus he's not exactly saying Calzaghe is a better fighter or greater than Jones.
