Hopkins: Joe Calzaghe was more difficult an opponent than Roy Jones Jnr

This is all good and fun, but it doesn't actually make any sense. How do you define difficult? Because it was obviously more difficult to win rounds against Roy Jones, you can't debate that. THATS FACT. The only way i can read sense out of this is he is saying Calzaghe is much more complex and harder to figure out mentally, which makes sense. But the word difficult is useless in this context, as Bernard Hopkins was able to fight a more competitive fight against Calzaghe, than he was against Jones. So Jones style might have been much easier to figure out mentally, but he certainly couldn't overcome it in practice.

Read between the lines. He was saying, If the Hopkins who fought Jones had fought this Calzaghe, Hopkins would have gotten smoked

 

No matter what Calzaghe says about Hopkins, Deep down i think he has a tonne of respect for Bernard too, im almost positive about this one.

Hopkins also said he beat Calzage. Of course, that claim was dismissed as Hopkins being a whiner and disrespectful. No surprise that Calzaghe fans are all in favor of this opinion by Hopkins.
