Oh look we have a smartarse, who, while giving the high and mighty know it all comment, exposes himself as a fraud. Eubank will end up in the hall of fame, and he will not be the greatest fighter in there, but he will be far from the worst. Eubank was a superb fighter, he would clean out todays MW and SMW divisions with ease, except possibly JC. Head to head in his prime, Eubank is a hell of a matchup for anybody. His resume does not really back that up, but he did enough to be considered great.
Dont see what Abraham has to do with Calzaghes record, personally I find the decisions given in American rings at times very dubious and have more in common with German boxing.
Agreed - in his prime, he had everything. The only reason he didn't dominate his division was because the competition was so strong. (Benn, McClellan, Watson, Collins, etc - all excellent fighters in their time). There may be people who feel that the lack of US/US-based fights takes away from his record - but as I've said before, his time was during the last golden age of British boxing, when the modern day pre-requisite stateside contests would have taken them out of the spotlight. Personally, I was/am a Benn fan, but I have the upmost respect for Eubank - he really was _that_ good.
And he would have been even better had the Michael Watson tragedy not happened. After that fight Eubank was gun-shy (he had a great right hand) and was never the same fighter again.
Apart from him losing four fights, just comparing records, the names on each fighters records they`ve both been in with proven names.Conman my a***e.Hopkins spits his mouth off all the time about Calzaghe fighting at home all the time but Hopkins coudn`t bottle facing Calzaghe infront of 40,000 at Cardiff so Joe is coming over there but he still prattles on about that he only fights at home ****.
That's because Hopkins is a LEGEND and Calzaghe wants to be one. He who wants the glory has to carry the bag. Anyway, there's no denying had Calzaghe come to the US 10 years ago, his record wouldn't be taking the tremendous hit it is today. He would have actually been a much better fighter. Imagine had the Klitschos only fought in the Ukraine, or Hatton hadn't come over to take his ass whooping.
Last night on FNF they mentioned the fight as, One Living Legend (Hopkins) , One wannabe legend (Calzaghe). I think they were spot on. You do too, but too hard headed to admit it. :yep No worries, he'll be a legend after he takes his initiation ass whooping. :good
I have a copy where I can clearly hear the ref state he is sure AA's jaw is broken. Every thing else aside, I think he should have stopped it for AA's protection. For me anyhow, that is the main issue there. I think the ref and ring doctor were remiss and should never work another fight. This is not the right thread and I am not looking to start a sub thread. It's been discussed enough. Maybe we need a scoring system for refs and judges? :yep It is a real shame that we have to discuss the fairness of decisions based on, well, anything.
