Thats what I hate about this ****ing guy. He puts on a masterful performance against Pavlik then still he has to spout bull**** that makes me wish he were run the **** over by a mack truck

Neither guy really took control, but the things that stick out in my mind having watched it a couple of times are, yes, Hopkins landed MUCH better shots, but there was only a handful during the whole fight. Calzaghe landed a lot of weak arm punches, but Hopkins negativity gave the fight away.

If they ever rematch and Hopkins is in with a decent and consistent referee I'd still go with Calzaghe based on styles. Calzaghe is one cat that even Hopkins cant outsmart in the ring, each guy is crafty as hell to the point they cancel each other out, so all you really have left to split them is power, stamina and speed. Well Hopkins has more power, but not the stamina to utilise it, plus I dont think he's got enough pop to hurt Calzaghe and certainly not the engine or quick flurries to finish it. Neither guy was finding the other easy to hit and when you have a fight like that that stunk the arena out... what cause is there for a rematch? It was close but clear to me, forget the Hopkins talk about going out like he did against Pavlik, he knows and any knowledgable fan knows that cant work based on the styles. Hopkins on the offense would be on the floor by the 6th, but it wouldn't be from a punch, it would be from swinging at air and those 43 year old legs not having enough to hold him up.

they both looked like ****, neither impressed in that fight. I think Joe won, but he should not feel good about that victory because it was an ugly, horrible fight in which he embarrassed himself by his lame showboating and got his ass dropped too. At least when Roy used to show boat, he looks good doing it.

Neither did much of ****. Should have been a no contest with both purses withheld.

Very true, between the show boating and Hopkins fouling it just doesn't warrent a rematch... we fans dont deserve that, so I'm glad Calzaghe said no. Anyway, I've watched Hopkins for years, he himself knows he wont KO Calzaghe in a rematch, it's more mind games from the master. He simply wants another big payday and a crack and denting that undefeated record. The reality is that us fans would be subject to more of the same BS, but if it's in the UK then Hopkins WILL get points deducted and these boards would decend into chaos.

Lets hope for the sake of boxing it's not going to happen

    Oh forget who won!

Does anyone actually remember how **** the fight was?
I'd be fascinated in the outcome of a second fight but I'd rather just be told the result than have to actually watch the bloody thing.

Much rather see Joe take on Dawson, that would be quite a challenge!
Hopkins v Kessler would be interesting but Kessler's not a big enough name yet.

Agreed it was a terrible performance by Hopkins but I thought he won by a couple of points.

You shouldn't waste your time replying to posts like that. It is quite clear that people who say that are haters. Seriously if you think Joe didn't "land a single effective punch" then either you need your eyes checked or you're just full of **** and bitter. I will admit that Joe didn't land any hurtful shots and that he cuffs alot but to say that not a single effective punch landed is just bollocks.
Especially when Joe landed alot more effective shots than Pavlik, didn't he Boo?

When will Hopkins realize you can't win fights:

    Throwing 10 punches a round

Holding, Grabbing, and Clinching like a minature John Ruiz.

I am not Calzaghe fan but Hopkins lost that fight fair and square.
