I would never pay for this fight but I have to admit I will be anxious to know what happens. If I were Hopkins, I'd know how likely a win would be and how meaningless it would be in comparison to fighting Roy back in 2000 or so but still, I'd feel some sense of victory in having stayed preserved longer and better than Jones. Then again, this is boxing, it's not written in stone and RJJ could just shock the living bejesus out of everyone but his staunchest supporters and win. The funny thing is, Hopkins has the least to gain respect-wise and legacy-wise. The least being basically nothing. He wins, everyone says, yeah, no kidding, so did Danny effing Green, Bernard. Whereas with Jones, if he should happen to take it against all odds, it makes him a superstar again.
i use to love the rematch, now i kinda of like it.had jones had the fight signed after he demolished lacy i would have loved it.there still two of my fav fighters, i dont know who to root for but i think hopkins takes him. hopkins will feel deep down inside that hes not fight the best roy but he may feel he is not a his best either.the best of 41 jones vs the best of 45 hopkins, better late then never !! i guess so ??
I for one would be interested in the result but would not pay to see this fight. Jones should have fought Hopkins instead of Green. This fight mean absolutely nothing, it's a pure nostalgia fight, 2 old warriors who can no longer cut it at the top so fight each other.
Jesus Christ. What type of boxing fan would want to see this fight? It's really quite sad. Jones has been on the exhibition circuit for a while now but it's a real shame to see Hopkins re-brand himself, going from a current p4p fighter to these ridiculous hype fights. Jone's outlandish protests about wraps and refs in the Green fight make a lot of sense now.
Who's 'we'? You and the voices inside your head? Don't assume you speak for everyone, this should be a good fight.
But Hopkins hasn't given any indication that he can't cut it. One of his greatest performances, i.e Pavlik, was not that long ago.
This is good news. We may not see Mayweather Pacquiao but we will settle for this. I wonder what Hopkins has left at 45? Anyway I hope both of them retire after this fight.
