Is this a ploy for Hopkins to pick a HW bout some time later in the year? Word on the wire is that Bernard wants to emulate Jones (perhaps not the correct choice of words) and do a Ruiz - namely, to the winner of Ruiz|Haye. Haye would be a dangerous option for The Executioner at this stage of his career. But I'm not gonna totally count it out. It goes without saying I think the Hopkins|Jones II fight is a travesty that came around 7 years too late. However is it a ploy for Hopkins to cash in on a "safe" opponent at LHW before he moves up for a final payday in Haye (prediction? )? This content is protected
it pains me to see roy fighting on. but as for hopkins, his motives are also very clear. you do realize he's fought his whole career w/ roy holding that win over his head? having roy tell him on national TV after a fight that he aint gettin' 50/50 because "i already whipped your ass once" still probably rings in his ears. hopkins wants to make sure that roy can't do that the rest of their lives. hopkins may want to position himself for this or that...but make no mistake, he also wants revenge.
http://www.eastsideboxing.com/shark0702.html there is the esb article on it. if you can find the video of it its pretty good. they had roy on video link after the fight so he and hopkins could **** talk to eachother and that is exactly what they did.
if its going to be on ppv then to hell with this fight. otherwise its barely worthy of a boxing after dark highlight.
RJJ is going to get brutally KO'd and hurt. He should not be fighting and it is a sad ending for such a great fighter that he was in his prime. Either Jones cover ups the whole time on the ropes and loses a lopsided decision, or B-Hop Ko's him.
When was the last time BHOP brutally KOed anyone? RJJ will get dominated like what happened in the Calzaghe fight.
Glad this rematch is finally happening. More of these older fighters should be fighting each other, instead of mixing it up with guys who are too young for them to be fighting.
