Bs thread. Pavlik was 168 for the Taylor rematch and WON. He was 170 for Hopkins and got owned.

Pathetic attitude from the OP, Pavlik was the biggest challenge out there.

Typical boxing spin job. Hold on, wasn't Bernard considered done going into this fight? Most said so in the media and the fan community. Isn't Hopkins nearly 44 years old? Yup, turns 44 in January. Wasn't Bernard a 4-1 underdog going into this fight? Yes. Isn't Pavlik 17 years younger and in the top 10 p4p? Yes. Isn't Pavlik actually a physically bigger fight than Bernard? Yes. He looked like he had a bigger frame. Isn't Pavlik a undefeated knockout artist? Yes. So how is that picking a good opponent? lol. Hopkins was suppose to lose and he didn't, but instead of giving him credit theres always a spin...classic post fight behavior. lol

I think he's half-right - I've never come across a fighter have so many catch-weight contests. I HATE catchweight fights.

But it's incorrect to say Calzaghe and especially Tarver (WTF?!) were victims of this. Calzaghe has struggled to make 168 for years. And it doesn't stop the performance against Pavlik being masterful.

The fact is this- Bhop never let Pavlik plant and had no problem- if Pavlik let it- be a boring fight. SO, he just stepped away every time pavlik planted and hit him as he came back into range.

Brilliant gameplan to win the fight. At this stage, he doesn't want to go to war. He doesn't have anymore wars left in him, I think. that is not to say he can't win.

Even I- after posting a thread on the dinosaurs needing to get out of the sprot, am eating crow as I can see that the youth's can still be trumped by the sly experienced fighters.

I see the same thing for toney's and Jone's. The vets know what they can do- and they nknow the boxing game. So if they really think they have a gameplan that can win a fight for them (regardless of how boring, or how controversial) they are probably right. They aren't dumb. that's for sure. They just know what tools to use and can see exploits after having been in the game for so long.
