Baaaahahaha well said. Personally I think if kovalev gets on him quickbamd doesn't let the old man's counters bother him too much he can get the win. If he lets Hopkins dictate the pace...well we've all seen that movie before. ..:deal
I wouldn't call it a gift, but you could certainly argue it for Bernard, as many people do. I gift to me would mean that there was no way to honestly score Calzaghe as having won the fight, and I am sorry, I don't see it that way, you could make your case for JC just like for BH, depends what you like I guess? I wanted BH to win. That's boxing, there is a subjective element in close rounds/fights. I don't really like Calzaghe's style, especially the slappiness, but he was effective with it, and would not have been an easy fight for anyone. Hopkins career post Calzaghe actually makes that 'win' more meaningful, at the time people thought Hopkins was old. It is a shame they didn't have a more conclusive result, or a rematch. I would have liked to see how they adapted to each other. There was really no way, win, lose, or draw, that JC was going to hurt Hopkins, but I think Kovalev has a much different type of arsenal and if he can get to him, he could hurt him a lot.
just watched slappy joe calzaghe Hopkins. brutalized inappropriate verb or adjective. Please expand vocabulary. Infact calzaghe was on his ass more than hopkins. Hopkins rocked slappy joe during that fight many times. brutalized really. you guys missed a really good fight
He didn't look 50. That's for sure. And he looked like he meant business. Kovalev may be taking him lightly.
People using the word brutal should watch hopkins vs joppy. beat ugly on to his face. that would be the gold standard of brutalized.
Hopkins did look older and physically he has lost some muscle but I guess that has to be expected for a man nearing 50. He has clearly declined considerably in recent fights, he isn't the same fighter that beat Pascal which is why Kovalev is favourite. I hope BHop has enough left to pull off one last miracle but whatever the outcome I don't think Hopkins can continue much longer at this level, time catches up with everyone.
The rumors that Hopkins controls the boxing commission, referee, judges and is Hazzard's best frield. If this is true, can Hazzard be fair?
