I could understand if he was a little scared of fighting Pavlik or even a match with Chad Dawson, but why would he be afraid of guy that has practically no power in his punches? If Hopkins loses it will be by decision, nothing embarassing about losing a close decision to Calzaghe, especially when your well past your prime.
As for "practically no power", he had Kessler wincing in pain until the ref jumped in like a spastic and allowed him to recover. Could/should have been a stoppage Back in the day before his hands were completely shagged he had some pop Now he has moderate power
I agree with you there, on both points. Kessler really disappointed me in that fight, other than his uppercut he didnt nothing well in that fight. He had a couple chances to really take advantage of a wide open Calzaghe and he couldnt pull the trigger, I think the spotlight might of been too much for him that night, in the end the better man won that fight.
So in other words, Kessler was **** all along, just like Lacy? Calzaghes career = smoke and mirrors, and the huggers just keep falling for it atsch
I cant say Calzaghes ****, but he is very overrated on ESB. I think we know now after Lacys last 2 fights against lower opposition, he was a overhyped fraud all along and alot of us fell for it including myself. Time will tell wether Kessler will pan out the same way, but I have a feeling he might, especially if he ever faces that chad dawson or even against a tough guy like Glen johnson.
Hatton and Calzaghe are the two most overrated fighters on this board because there are way too many British fans that post on this board. Some of the posts they make are laughable. They said Hatton would destroy PBF. Talk about lack of objectivity. And now, they give Hopkins no credit whatsoever. They call him scared. They disrespect him. They say he has no chance. Yeah, ok.
That little bit seemed to reveal quite a bit and I bet they repect each other much more than we think. Calzaghe awkwardly trying his best to promote himself and Hopkins awkwardly yelling directions from "outside" the ring when he probably would normally have stepped in to give those pointers.
Hopkins aint scared of Calzaghe. Not by any means. Not in my opinion. Maybe nervous, but Calzaghe probably was as well.
I'm not a big Hopkins fan, and don't understand people saying he is all time great. But he is not afraid of anyone so far as I have seen. Calzaghe would beat him even if he was younger Hopkins, but to say Hopkins is scared is getting carried away.
Seriously is this elementry school, why would Hopkins be scared of Joe Calzaghe?? Hopkins has been fighting for more than twenty years, and fighting is his ****ing job, and now all of a sudden he's scared. Jeez if he's scared why did he get into boxing in the first place.
I heard from someone that a friend of theirs told them how they saw Calzaghe at a shopping mall and he told them that Allan Green would be his toughest challenger at 168.
That sounds so ****in stupid. Stupid for so many reasons. How come my boy has not only get beat but raped? You got some kind of manhood issues or something? Dumb ass comments like this makes Calzag fans looks like repressed homosexuals which sucks cuz Joe is a good/great fighter whos pretty down to earth.
Why would he be afraid??? I'd say the both of them had butterflies jumping through hoops in their stomachs, but afraid??? I don't think so.
