I wouldn't be surprised if its one of those fights that goes to the cards that could be argued either way, and Pavlik comes away with a lopsided U.D. Its actually a bit part of what has been wrong with boxing for a long time. Disappointed to see people want Pavlik to win whether he deserves it or not. One of the reasons I tend to watch more and more MMA.
The point being is he's done it enough for us to realize that carrying power is no real issue:deal :good
Unfortunately thats how the judges will be looking at it too and a robbery is not off the table by any means. Pav is far more marketable and Hopkins will need to win at least 8 rounds clearly imo. If it turns out to be a close fight then you can be rest assured the judges cards will have it for Pav by a landslide
im talking about currently... in the words of mike tyson hes fading to bolivian every day that passes hopkins is one step closer to being washed up....regardless of if hes a legend or not (i think he is) every day that passes for pavlik hes one step closer to becoming the next big thing in boxing.. the torch needs to be passed
everyone knows what pavliks about already high ko rate fights hard doesnt talk alot regular guy he has a lot going for him... as opposed to hopkins who was supposed to retire 4 years ago....hopkins is on his last legs.... mma is lame... the fights are so unorganized...
We don't really know if Pavlik is a step closer to becoming the next big thing yet, it's all hype based right now, what he does in the ring should confirm that. About Hopkins being washed up, it's already known he's old and past his best but let's face it, he recently gave one of the greats of this generation in Calzaghe a very competitive fight, beat Winky Wright and Tarver before him all in fights people gave him no chance in at all. Only the Winky fight some people gave him a chance but still he was the underdog going in. The man might be washed up but he's giving the best in boxing right now HELL at 43 years of age. Hardly fading into oblivion there, not even close to it. Of course Pavlik winning is better for boxing but if Hopkins wins then that's great too as long as the scoring is fair.
Just think if Pavlik does lose. Is it really the end of the world? Kelly is constantly taking on new, tougher challenges, and the danger in doing this is losing. If Pavlik does lose, he'll get a valuable lesson. Even if Pavlik wins, this fight will provide him with experience and seasoning. All young tigers on the way up have to face the old lions, and those aged cats can still bite. Hell, Hopkins lost his first pro fight, and he wound up with a Hall Of Fame career. If Kelly's "0' does go, it's not the end of the world.
i can see two scenarios, one where Pavlik out works the older man and wins a wide decision on workrate, the other is Hopkins spoiling Kellys style a nick points and stealing a decision himself. Hopefully KP comes through.
