Hopkins never beat an A-level fighter in his entire career at a fair weight

That just illustrates that everyone knew Hopkins wasn't nothing special, that he was clearing out the weakest 160 era out in boxing history, hiding from the real challenges in the elite 168 division.

Trinidad may have been a good welterweight but he certainly wasn't a great middleweight. Does beating William Joppy with concrete gloves really justify you being called 'great'? :rofl

Tell me what the 5 best wins of Joppys career are so I can get a better idea of his calibre :think

The fact is that Trinidad had been knocked down 7 times as a welterweight and yet you guys still thought he would beat Hopkins despite having his handwraps thoroughly checked and moving up 2 weight divisions  :rofl

If Trinidad was such a great middleweight, tell me about his fight with inky wright at 160 :yep

Thank you mind reader, you are indeed a gent and scholar of the highest possible order :deal

Ham n eggers like CJ (Complete Jackass) are food and drink for a Team Elite General, we pwn him with consummate ease on a daily basis with the use of irrefutable scientific facts in deliciously crystal clear HD before a global audience of millions :yep

Whilst I have the attention of ESB at this time, I would also like to thank the fans for taking my profile views past the 1.8m barrier. It is truly humbling to know that we still sit comfortably at the top of the 'ESB respect pyramid', that everybody still wants a slice of that delicious Team Elite pie, but unfortunately there is not enough of that delicious Team Elite pie to go round and as a consequence, blinkered fanboys will be mauled, dismantled, and re-educated, their delusional narrow minded thought processes will be broadened until they can see the wood from the trees :partytime:party:woot

Thank you, it does seem an accurate summary, theres is plenty of credit given to Hopkins as well as exposing the smoke in mirrors that fooled the gullable HBO fanboys.

He "drags" opponents up above their best weights to fight him? Tito and Oscar didn't know what weight the fight was contracted for?

All this time I thought 147 lbers have been moving up to 160 ever since the beginning of the sport. Maybe Tommy Ryan and Mickey Walker and Lou Brouillard didn't know what weights they were fighting at either.

How dare that cheater Carlos Monzon drag Benvenuti & Griffith & Napoles above their best weight to fight him! The sneaky Marvin Hagler should have worked himself down to 147 or 154 if he wanted to fight Duran and Hearns and Leonard!

I know what happened, and I read your links last year.

Every fighter is different, and so are the circumstances.

We know that Tarver said he had trouble cutting he weight.

Chad Dawson had an absolute nightmare last year. John Scully came on here and gave a candid account of what he went through.

Chad's younger than Roy, and he'd had less fights and didn't drop as much weight.

Roy left his Ruiz physique on, in the hope of having other HW fights.

He was 35, he'd fought 50 times, he'd never cut muscle before, and it was done in a hurry.

    It speaks volumes.

It was a great win, under the circumstances.

Here we have a case where a challenger won back to back world titles at HW to LHW.. Any boxing historian will tell you how rare that is..

This is something any fan would love to be able to claim that their fighter had done..:yep

And I am sticking to facts.. Which you have been called out on lately, so peoples opinions on how shitty of world champs John Ruiz and Antonio Tarver were, should not matter..:deal

But the facts are facts, and it was a rare statistic, and achievement.:good

Under what circumstances. Have you a source to say Jones cut muscle?

    Makes Calzaghes win look better

"I'm feeling magnificent now," Jones told ESPN.com. "It [the knockout defeats] was never a case of being too confident. It was the trauma of coming down from heavyweight to light heavyweight. My body got dehydrated after losing all that weight, that's all. Now my body's completely readjusted."

Roy Jones Jr: My body is back down to my normal weight now. As opposed to when I fought Johnson when I was not at my normal weight. I was coming down from over 200 pounds. Now I am down to where I am walking around at about 185 so I am good.

So then what makes a great middleweight? Was Roy Jones a great middleweight?

The weight certainly played into it. You can see in the last few rounds where it looked like it was hard for Roy to even get off the stool in the corner.. It showed Roy Jones dig down and find a little more, when he was clearly almost out on his feet.. This was a Roy we had never seen before.

This wasn't quite the same for me as Toney vs Jones, or Eubank vs Calzaghe where neither Toney or Eubank looked really drained, they just looked overwhelmed to me... Something was clearly wrong with Roy.

That and winning world titles back to back at HW and LHW, also when you consider how dangerous and motivated Tarver was...

It was a great win, all things considered.. In my opinion anyway.
