i thought you said that jones was a liar in the past? so, you believe him when he says this but not on other things, like taking an over-the-counter supplement? which is it? quit being a hypocrite richard.

Where have I ever said any boxer was a liar?
You must not make things up. I understand that you have failed in our boxing debates leading you to make threads, calling me out etc. But no lies.
In answer to what you have written, you have to look at what evidence is presented forward.
In the case of Jones fighting Calzaghe, he had been back at LHW for a while and on a run of 3 wins, so I dont doubt what he said there. It makes sense, as in his fight with Johnson it was much closer to his HW fight, as to when he fought Calzaghe. Simple fact, which once again owns you.
As for the over the counter supplement, I once again look at the facts rather than what is just said. Maybe you should do the same Dick :yep

I believe that Roy is only the 2nd fighter in history to win a belt at HW, and then drop back and reclaim the LHW titles.

I think that Bob Fitzsimmons is the only other fighter to have accomplished that feat.

Have I got a source that states he cut muscle?

    Ha! Really?

Even you aren't that daft.

    Wow!

You've given me two quotes of Roy feeling confident, after a few comeback wins.

    Their 2008 fight was pointless.

Do you want some facts, and not just opinions?

I'll give you cold hard FACTS.

Roy had been destroyed FOUR YEARS before he fought Joe.

Roy hadn't won at elite level for FIVE YEARS before he fought Joe.

Roy was 9 weeks away from his 40th birthday.

In 2007, Joe said "Roy was a great fighter, but now he's past his best, and a fight between us at this stage, would now be POINTLESS!"

In 2008, he also said "Roy's no longer great, and I'd be disappointed if he was to be my last fight."

A year after Joe beat him, Danny Green stopped him in one.

    How about those for facts?

Joe knew he was shot, and he said a fight would be pointless.

So it doesn't matter how Roy felt. He said after Tito that he felt 27, and was back to his best.

    But obviously he wasn't.

How Roy felt, has no bearing on the FACTS that I've provided.

It's a joke that you try to pass it off as a significant win, when Roy was knocked out twice in 2004.

A points win over a near 40 year old guy, can't be celebrated after he's been knocked cold at 35.

    It's ******ed!

Joe was that desperate to have Roy's name on his resume, he gave him 50/50.

    It was a joke!

Stan Levin thinks that 50% of the old Roy would have beaten Glen Johnson, and I have to agree.

Joe cashed in the chips, it's as simple as that.

No doubt Roy was faded, but I think Joe could have beat a prime Roy also. Joe was simply faster, fought from all angles and adjusted better.

Yes, and to all the idiots who claim that Ruiz was easy, how many other 168 and 175 guys have moved up, or look as though they're going to move up, to fight a top 5 HW?

Joe faster than Roy? Have you seen prime Roy fight? Roy was more than likely the fastest fighter ever in all 4 weights he fought in.. Joe was fast, but Roy was faster, this isn't up for debate.

Roy fought from all angles, and had elite power in either hand from any angle.. He could literally knock you out, either hand, any punch, with his feet not even on the canvas. Sometimes the opponent didn't even know where Jones was in the ring after he hit them.

Prime Roy rarely had to adjust because he was so good, but look at Griffin 1 for adjustments.. Griffin had an amazing game plan and took away Roy's left hook, but as the fight went on, Roy started finding the right hand more and more until Griffin went down about to be stopped..

The second fight, Roy went back to the left hook plan, but was simply too fired up to care about any punch Griffin was throwing.. Roy actually walked through a few stiff punches in that first round with no attempt to defend, just because he was so enraged.

    Agreed. Facts are facts.

However, I will not completely dismiss the quality wins against opponents around his division(s).
