Hopkins never beat an A-level fighter in his entire career at a fair weight

Can you link me to the Mosley-Hopkins fight? I seemed to have missed that one.

    Dont bring my name up.

I think Hopkins is an amazing athlete, to do what he is doing at his age and give him full credit, but look at what is being written.
Hopkins is a A grade fighter no doubt, but what A Grade fighters did he beat at his own weight? Oscar and Tito were not natural MWs and didnt have pedigree at the weight. Tarver was a good win when you consider Hopkins went back to LHW, but it wasnt A grade even though the performance was.
I think Hopkins best wins are arguable between Tarver, Holmes, Pascal and Cloud, but I dont think many would call those fighters grade A even if they are good. What is exceptional is Hopkins beating fighters like Cloud and Pascal at such an advanced age for boxing.

I also dont discredit Jones, but when you note that he didnt beat the man throughout many of his reigns whilst going through the weights, seems to make people like yourself feel insecure, which I dont know why.

Would you say Mayweather beat the man when he was LWW champ? I would say not. Hatton was the man at LWW as he beat Tsyzu, Floyd was a title holder, though I dont think many would argue that Floyd was the better fighter and would have most likely defeated Hatton at LWW, but Floyd didnt beat the man when winning a title at that weight. Now I am a Floyd fan and not a fan of Hatton, but that doesnt discredit either fighter. It was similar for Jones in some of those cases.

Not sure why you brought up Calzaghe?
Tell me this though, what wins does Hopkins have against a fighter as good as undefeated Kessler? Please dont say Tito who although a top P4P fighter was a former WW that had been put down 7 times that I know of and had no real pedigree at MW. If Hopkins had of gone to SMW and scored that win, I think many would call it Hopkins best win, but Calzaghe has that win and the wins over Eubank and Hopkins

He didnt say they fought he noted Hopkins mentioned Mosely as a potential opponent when MW champ, and I seem to recall Hopkins doing that as well as the names of other then WWs Margarito and Mayorga but could be wrong

    you cant be serious
there is no way on this planet you don't realize that you post through rose-tinted glasses

most of the time I think you're just seeing how well you can twist an 'impossible truth' about a british fighter to see if you can actually defend it against reason

when you do create threads about a non-british fighter, there is always a means in your madness because all roads lead to british credibility

that's fine if you know how to be objective, but you don't know

This is a terrific statement, arguably ESB post of the week from MrPR

Whilst many Hopkins fanboys are blinded by the smoke and mirrors, how refreshing that a poster can see through all propaganda and deliver a terrific insight like this.

Hopkins had 3 big tests at 160 and he was 0-3-0 in those fights :deal

Oh dear, this fanboy seems really upset that Hopkins turned down a $3m career high payday in 2002 to fight Joe Calzaghe in America and instead chose to earn peanuts instead versus obscure Frenchman Hakkar :lol::lol::lol::lol::rofl:deal

Read the other posts and then do a bit of research. You never know, you might even learn something and find it more informative than you do from "reading" The Sun.

    Try again HEADGIVER.

Trinidad is a career Welterweight :patsch

    Whats Trinidads record below 160?

Now tell me what Trinidads record is at 160 or above

The fact that Trinidad was favourite shows just how poor that 160 era was :deal

Nonsense, Hopkins fought many, many times above the middleweight limit in his early career, the fact that Hopkins was a gym rat and lived an extremely healthy lifestyle helped him keep his weight down :deal

Hopkins wanted nothing to do with Jones with his ridiculous demands. Hopkins priced himself out of the opportunity of avenging one of his defeats because he knew he stood no chance and would rather fight out a Robert Allan trilogy instead :lol::lol::lol::rofl:deal
