Hopkins never beat an A-level fighter in his entire career at a fair weight

Only on ESB do we make beating an undefeated P4P Middleweight who was favored 2-to-1 to beat you mean nothing.

Hopkins ruined a great fighter in Trinidad. But, then again.. ESB.. every loss is the end of the world and every win means nothing because the other guys is a can.

It's the one thing MMA get's right... win/loss record isn't the end all be all of the sport. If boxing fans stopped being so harsh for fighters losing the sport would be better off.

Fighters could take risks without being left for dead.

Antonio Tarver is a hypocritical jerk in my opinion..

However entertaining in Rocky, and makes good commentary, his embarrassment goes hand in hand with his success.. He has had some foolish moments, that is for sure.

There is much more to Jones's camp than he is telling you. You need to read up what happened during the last week of his camp

The only fighter who claims cutting muscle is hard is Jones. Plenty of other fighters had done it like Bradley, Hearns, Byrd, Tarver, Dm, Tiozzi etc. As long as you are moving to a division you have not outgrown then there is no problem.

WTF, weren't something like 15 of Hopkins first 16 fights in the light heavyweight division?

Hopkins was also in his 4th fight back at the weight when he fought pavlik at the catchweight?

How many times in Pavliks career had he fought at that weight prior to fighting Hopkins?

How many times did Pavlik fight at that weight after Hopkins?

I will give you the disparity in skill factor but this fight was yet another example of Hopkins smoke and mirrors turning Pavlik into the marshmellow man from Ghostbusters so he could fight him.

    Lets answer you in order....

1...Yes Cortez was VERY biased in favour of Calzaghe.

2....Where I will agree you cannot win a fight throwing 6 punches a round. How many LEGITIMATE scoring punches did Calzaghe throw all 12 rounds???? You already said his hands were completely shot he could not punch All he could do was slap like a girl which in boxing is ILLEGAL!!!!!!!!!!!!! known as lacing

3... Cortez should have given Calzaghe a public warning & taken a point for that blatent low SLAP!! Have you ever boxed ? Have you ever taken a blow like that?? Obviously not or you wouldn't make such a silly statement.

4... That just proved what Calzaghe is. To do something like that in a prize fight was disgusting You notice Cortez didn't even warn him though

Love him or hate him you've got to respect a man like Bernard Hopkins. He had a hard start in life, did time in jail. But with the help of a great trainer & friend Bouie Fisher, Nard straightened himself out and with hard work & dedication he is now a very rich , very content happily married man. a man destined to go down as one of the greatest fighters of our time. A true HOF ATG champion with a resume to be proud of

What did Joe Calzaghe do?? When Nard offered him a rematch in Wales in front of his homeland fans, he shot his fans the finger and Retired. He ran for the hills. He knew Nard was coming to take that 0.
Whats Joe done since?? Made headlines dumping his long time G/f amid accusations of drug & alcohol abuse. Hardly the actions of a champion huh??

When you compare the two , In the words of Larry Holmes, Calzaghe is not fit to carry Hopkins jockstrap

Here endeth your boxing lesson :hi:

Quite possibly the most hilarious statement in esb history :rofl
Cortez refereed Mayweather v Hatton and Calzaghe v Hopkins within the space of a week and became known as one of the biggest crooks in boxing.

He refereed Hatton V Mayweather allowing zero holding, actually calling 'break' before the fighters were actually in a clinch to the bewilderment of everyone. Yet one week later, Cortez completely changes his refereeing style and allows Hopkins to hold and wrestle like a pu$$y all night long, giving Hopkins zero warning for his action. He then allows Hopkins an extended break in the 11th by feigning injury when Hopkins was about to gas out.

That's right, Hopkins lost to a fighter with the most brittle hands in boxing, on home soil, dragging calzaghe up in weight, with a home town referee. Hopkins was actually scared to exchange punches with a fighter who slaps

Hopkins was barely touched below the waste, its didn't even touch his lunchbox, he saw the opportunity to do what he does best - con the ref, con the crowd, and cowardly seek a lengthy time out by pulling that horrible crybaby face :crybaby

Yes, I am a former world champion, I am also a highly respected Team Elite General, hence my opinion carries far more wait than a frail 94lb, feather fisted ham n egger like yourself.

If I was to meet you in the street, I would put your horrible spindley legs on ***** street with a pawed range finder jab from the opening stanza :vonnecunt

Cortez didn't warn Calzaghe because he knew giving Hopkins a recovery period in the 1st place was a fraudulent thing to do for his compatriot, even when calzaghe bent Hopkins over in the middle of the ring and buttfukeded him :pwned

I repect Hopkins longevity and that he was still able to be competitive in his late 40s with B/C leverl fighters like Pascal and Cloud. What I don't repsect is that he spent the majority of his career trying to clear out the worst middleweight era in boxing history (including a memorable trilogy with Robert Allan - mega lolz) and that he continually tried to bring fighters away from their best weight categories to beat them - smoke and mirrors swallowed by a gullable fanbase.

What Hopkins will be remembered for most is coming up short against all the elite fighters he fought at a fair weight, hell theres been 8 or 9 fights were Hopkins wasn't good enough to emerge victorious from

Hopkins will also be remembered for stinking the house out on numerous occasions by feigning bull**** injuries, a man who doesn't give a damn about giving his fans entertainment for their hard earned money.

Why would Calzaghe give a cowardly man like Hopkins a rematch? Calzaghe had already beaten Hopkins on foreign soil despite a corrupt referee, All Hopkins had to take from the 1st fight was an early flash knockdown, Calzaghe adjusted and beat Hopkins down the straight.

To understand Calzaghe, you need to see that he was all about entertaining the fans, all about giving them value for money, all about having a tare up and putting it all on the line. Hopkins is the polar opposite, he doesn't give a **** about enteraining the fans, he wants to hold, he wants to headbutt, he wants to make the fight as scrappy as possible, he wants act the gangster but then feign injury like a pu$$y in the ring :|

Why would Calzaghe choose to have the last fight of his career against a racist who isn't interested in fighting but in wrestling, fouling, and play acting?

How could Hopkins have done better in a rematch when Calzaghe had settled into the weight, when Calzaghe had a homecrowd behind him, when Calzaghe had a neutral referee and neutral judges? Why would 'mr entertainment fight his last fight against someone who would stink the entire arena out? :deal

The guy basically just picked out all the holes in Bernards career and wrote them down, typical trolling.

    What about his accomplishments?

Being the oldest ever fighter to win a world title is probably one of the greatest achievements there is in the sport.

Hes a once off fighter, there will never be another Bernard Hopkins and if there is we will be waiting quite a few years to see it.

    Hopkins is a living legend!!!

I've talked glowingly about Hopkins longevity so take the HBO blinkers off fanboy, and through the smoke and mirrors you may see the wood from the trees like a Team Elite General.
