From Bernard himself, in an interview with a Polish boxing writer, on the Polish website bokser.org is an interview with Hopkins about a potential fight with Adamek. I won't translate the entire thing, but basically he was asked how much truth is there behind the rumor that he is interested in fighting Adamek. The answer was : 100% truth, I thought about it after the Cunningham fight, but wasnt sure. Now I am 100% sure this is what I want. I know Adamek fights in a way that pleases the public, we both have huge fan-bases on the East coast and this is likely where the fight will take place. I can't move up to HW, but I can take cruiser-weight. I am 44 years old, and am mostly just fighting for a place in history. Later he went to say that to him Adamek is just another Kelly Pavlik, and he knows he will win this fight. He wants at least 1-1.5 million for the fight, and says Adamek will have to make less, as Kat is the famous one. Fight would take place at CW, not at a catch-weight. ==================================== Sounds like this fight may actually be made. Read another article that Adameks camp is already in talks with Hopkin's people. I have no prediction, yet. But this will be Adameks toughest fight to date. I wonder how Hopkins will take the weight. He says he is walking around at 190 now.
This fight would be amazing! Adamek has great fighting skills and actually pretty smart in the ring, and with the power and weight advantage, I'm pretty sure he'd give a tough 12 rounder to Bernard, who of course should be favored to win by decision. A simple note: if Hopkins weighs in at 195 pounds, Adamek will still be heavier, despite Bernard outweighing Roy Jones of the Ruiz fight! There's a huge gap between LHW and CW, 25 pounds is just crazy, so putting on another amount of muscle at 44 might be the downfall of the old fox. It would be awesome to see Adamek-Hopkins for the CW championship!
Adamek should be seeking other opponents, namely Dawson at CW or Cunningham. Either rematch would be very exciting. Prime for prime.
I really don't see why everyone is all over Hopkins on this one, that it is such a sure and easy win for him. I'm not saying he will lose, but talk about all over his nuts. He is 44 years old. He will be going up to a weight he has never fought at before. In some weights, a few pounds can make or break a fighter. This will be a 20-25lb jump, for a 44 year old guy. Adamek is no push-over. He will be the bigger man going into this fight. And he is definently no Kelly Pavlik, as Hopkins said. As to answer the question of another poster as to why Adamek is taking this fight. It is because Adamek is a true and model Champion. He will fight anyone, anywhere, anytime. He doesnt hand pick his opponents, and fears no man. Win or lose. Also this will be Adameks biggest pay-day to date. And I bet Andy that Hopkins will be the favorite going into this fight with the bookies.
This is a dangerous move for Bernard I knew he would beat Pavlik but Adamek is much bigger, the way i see it. Adamek is just as much of an animal as bernard is ...........just a monster man Two stone cold killers at heart, beleive it !
Nard is old school, he could possibly earn more fighting somebody else, but he wants "the man" at 200 who is one of the most dangerous fighters in the world. What a fight it;s going to be!
I think this move comes too late in Hopkins career. I would take Adamek by stoppage, he is a big puncher and an excellent finisher.
Hmm, I think Tomek will be the favorite just over the stuff you just said in this post... Age Weight etc... all them factors. I don't care much tho this fight won't happen for at least not til Summer or so. Im def gonna put some down on Diablo over Fragomeni, 2.00 odds good stuff. :yep
