All this means is Joe will eat the occasional counter right, which he's willing to accept in order to smother and overwhelm his opponent. Hopkins no longer throws enough punches to keep the pace, which is why he'll drop a clear decision.

Joe at some point in most of his fights stands with his hands low..but for him its a sign of being comfortable and in control..Bhop will know this and try to exploit Joe on these few occasions..

Joe will win but not without the rough and tumble that comes with his style and Bhops methods of fighting.

Agreed. It's going to be a very ugly fight.

well I havent seen either man fight in 2 years however:

Hopkins will not fight Joe's fight...there is NO WAY he stands and trades although he was excellent at that when he was younger.

I keep seeing these joe will smother him and hopkins wont be able to keep the pace posts....guys...When have you ever seen Hopkins fight at someone elses pace? he'll set it himself and might loose a boreing long UD or SD or something of that nature but I guarantee he dosent fight at Joe's pace....Call me crazy...but I'm thinking I might favor Hopkins

The thing your forgetting is..Joe will not fight at Bhops pace..thats why Joes workrate will be the key to his victory!!!

Calzaghe is going to be very, very frustrated. Every time he gets set to unload a flurry of punches Hopkins is going to charge and tie him up, then punch on the break, move away, and do it all over again, repeatedly. My bet would be that Calzaghe's workrate will be a third of what it usually is, especially if Hopkins backs him up with some right hands along the way. That may be enough to outpoint Hopkins, but with an American venue, Calzaghe's going to need every extra point he can find. Hopkins by MD.

I agree that will probably be what Hopkins does but he's going to have to have a great fight to actually outpoint Calzaghe. If i were a betting man, i would pick Calzaghe although i'm a huge Hopkins fan.

I'm sure Hopkins' respect for Calzaghe went up a ton after he watched him dismantle Kessler. Before that fight, Hopkins probably thought Calzaghe was a guy whose only win was against a one dimensional fighter in Lacy.

This fight is going the distance. Joe is not going to score a single knockdown in this fight. But he should win comfortably on cleaner punches

I've said it before, and I guess I'm cynical, but I just can't see Calzaghe walking away with a points victory in Hopkins' house, especially with Golden Boy promoting. Every benefit of the doubt, from scoring to the ref's calls, is going to be given to Hopkins. He's a US boxing institution (for better or worse). I don't see a Brit walking out of the arena with a decision.

The one thing I am completely confident about in this fight is that Joe Calzaghe will be trying to stop Bernard Hopkins.

Calzaghe is toast he is going to look small in their against Hopkins .... All that workrate won't mean anything because theres no power involved and Hopkins won't respect it !

Hopkins is too smart to allow Calzaghe to tee off on him it won't happen ....Calzaghe is going to lose this fight possibly by TKO after eating counter after counter after counter

Hopkins right is now inferior to Sakio Bikas, absolutely nothing can go wrong.

Hopkins will look like Manfredo in there, only he's a bigger target to hit.
