Hops is my 2nd favorite fighter ever but that round was won by Merchant. It would have been a 10-8 but Hopkins flurry in the last 10 seconds make it closer. :yep

Hold on a second.Merchant had time to hone and prepare what he was going to ask;he knew and determined what the interview would be about,as its his job.
While he's thinking through his questions,Hopkins was doing HIS job and fighting.Lot different isnt it?
Hopkins just had to respond quickly to what Merchant said, with no time to dwell on the answer.
That puts him at a massive disadvantage, but he STILL took old wino to the cleaners.
The guy paid to talk was outtalked and out argued by a Boxer who had to think on his feet.
    Brilliant-Go Hopkins:happy

I'd love to see him replace Lennox on the HBO team.

Merchant was completely in the wrong. Calling out a champ for fighting their mandatory challanger just makes you look like an idiot.

That' s the same Merchant that proclaimed 2-3 years ago that he didn't see Miguel Cotto as champion material, but more like a nice contender.... WOW that is some predicting power larry has..

Actually Hopkins owned Merchant there, aaaaand badly. The point he made about there not being a jr Middleweight division and such :deal And pointing out that the problem with the system is that he will get stripped if he didn't fight him. Why the **** was merchant asking him why he fought a "mandatory" anyway :patsch

Merchant has some balls and been around forever. He is not a yes sayer like so many other journalists these days. He is not afraid to state his opinion and that is why he actually gets respect from a lot of fighters.

    BHop torched his ass.

Merchant had this nice little round of questions he was going to ask BHop to make him look foolish, and that **** blew up in his face.

Only someone with a personal vendetta against Hopkins can claim that Merchant, who had time to craft his attacking questions, got the best of a man who had just got through fighting and still manages to not only deflect the criticism, but drop bombs on Merchant...

    Think about that.
