Larry Merchant is a tool and will always be a tool

 

Boxing is a conundrum or at least the politics are. The WBC should be to blame for ranking that bum as a mandatory. There is always some honor in fighting when presented with the ultimatum of fight or be stripped.

 

Larry seemed a little bitter. I think he came down hard on Hopkins for fighting a mandatory. Hopkins was right and came out better there.

 

Hopkins would be great on HBO. He knows the game and his points are accurate. I would love to see him on HBO doing commentary.

 

It is scientifically impossible to own Hopkins. Only Roy Jones can own B-Hop, for he is God.

 

I remember this BS. Right after this Larry suggested that Oscar and Shane move up and fight Hopkins because " They can beat him". Foreman said Larry was wrong. When its all said and done B-Hop got the last laugh.

Merchants piggy little laugh in the middle is cringe making. He loves Hopkins there...

They both dissed eachother pretty good....no question Hopkins held his own.....

....but in fairness to Larry Merchant, he was asking those types of questions of Hopkins because at the time, Hopkins talked more than what he actually delivered in the ring.....

.....he was asking for big money fights and pricing himself out of them.
At the time, the truth was that Hopkins was a conservative type inside that ring that did'nt take many risks, and in many instances his fights become borefests.
.....which is why Larry had the audacity to say to Hopkins face that it would be the last time he'd get paid for such a venture....
I could certainly understand where Larry Merchant was coming from.

 

Harsh. I think he was doing it coz Hopkins is usually a bit of a ***** in his interviews so it was intended as some sort of pay back.

 

I don't understand why Brits respect Steve Bunce as a pundit. He is terrible.
