Seriously you have great boxer on your avatar. You should at least know something about boxing.

Pascal doesn't fight in spurts. Check his fights with Diaconu and Froch. He went toe to toe with both of them for 12 rounds. Froch beat him by a slim margin because of his jab.

The only time Pascal has fought in spurts. Was against Dawson, for tactical reasons. He wanted to neutralize Dawson's jab. And it worked Dawson's jab was a non factor in the fight. Obviously he learned something from the Froch fight.

Pascal will use a much different tactic for Hopkins and he will win.

And to get back on Topic.

Hopkins should take this fight. He deserves a big payday just like Marquez. Pascal is now a superstar and will draw a big crowd in Canada. A country where they actually care about boxing.

I do want him to hang'em up and although I believe that there is a very good chance that Hopkins gets badly beat up and knocked out in this fight and that he could possibly sustain life changing damage, b/c of his past greatness and proven ability to produce big performances when people least expect him to I am willing to give him the benifit of the doubt and support him if he wants to make this fight. If it was anyone else but bhop I'd be dead set against him fighting pascal but he has yet to be decisively beaten by any one and until he does get ****ed up he can do what he wants. If he loses and isn't competitive or gets ****ed up then of course I won't want to see him continue.

By 'viable', I mean a good option for someone looking to stay busy...but not a real threat. I admit that it's a bit far-fetched but Hopkins is smart enough to realize that his awkward style and dirty reputation makes him an unpopular opponent as is.

Thats a moot point. Hopkins has never been a big draw by himself in the first place. He always needed to be next to a big name to make a big fight.

He's like Larry Holmes, an unpopular winner.

    HEY!

Someone please explain to me why Pascal doesn't have to fight Dawson next? Isn't there a rematch clause?

That's exactly why he would need a little help to get a shot at a title at this point in his career.

Yes, but it doesn't have to be an immediate rematch. He really must have been desperate during contract negotiations or he has a terrible manager. It's absurd because Dawson may ,theoretically, never get the title back.

I finally saw Pascal - Dawson and got impressed at how Pascal can move in so quickly and discharge so above-average fast and meaty clubbing-scoring blows. However, Hopkins defense is much different from Dawson's - Bernard has excellent stance and footwork in short spaces and he is very difficult to tag. I would see Pascal circling and speeding towards Hopkins to score and get tagged more often than not on the way in or in the way out... Definitely Pascal has a chance if he stays and flurries old man river like Calzaghe, J Taylor and once RJJ did to the body, but I don't see him having the cratsmanship to steal a fight from Hopkins.

I will pay to see this fight, as I'm a huge b-hop fan, but as he gets older and continues fighiting, I fear that we will see him like we did so many others before, old in one night, a la ali-holmes, tyson-lewis, louis-marciano

If hopkins can pull this off it will be another nice string to his bow, who are we to say he cant have a go at it, pascal will make it a reasonably exciting fight i think
