Hopkins - Pascal, Scorecard and thoughts on the fight.

Of course he won't, he won the fight and got a draw.

If it did take place, there is only going to be one winner.

Problem with this fight is that as a 36 minute "whole" Hopkins was clearly the superior man, he dominated the fight for a far longer period than Pascal. But I can't call a robbery on that because as actually scoring a fight it's irrelevant. I had it 114-112 to Hopkins like many had it, but just one round the other way and it's a draw. I have no doubts that BH would win a rematch, only the KDs kept Pascal his titles and I don't reckon he'd fancy going in with BH again. I'm not sure whether it's a reflection on BH or the rest of the current crop of light-heavies that after watching last nights fight I wouldn't rule out BH beating any of the current title holders. I hope he gets another title fight soon.

Yes, so many bad decisions in America, such as Kotelnik/Alexander robbery. I agreed with Tarver's scorecard, 112-114 Pascal, two knockdowns is too hard to overcome.

 

Ortiz Peterson granted in one round but 2 rounds less in the fight and that was 'overcome'

 

Pascal needs to throw more punches. I did not see Froch/Pascal, but heard Froch beat him, no doubt.

 

Work rate and the jab won froch the fight against pascal. Jean's punch output was appalling for a fighter in his 20s. **** sake he got outworked by a 45-year old!

 

pro hopkins could have it 115-112, i had it 114-112, leaning to pascal i could see it 113-113. as it goes i think the cards were relatively accurate. one or two poorly scored rounds and it will cause trouble.

 

Some of the rounds were very hard to score, but a 7-5 decision, with the two knockdowns, gets Pascal a draw. I don't think Hopkins is good for the sport at this stage: if he's willing to fight regularly against the other champs out there, then great. But he won't be.

Bhop was good, he won most rounds but I still had it a draw 113-113. Was tempted to give a couple of Pascal rounds as 10-10, but you rarely see official judges give even rounds.

 

hopkins at 46, in big fights and actually performing in his last fight is good for boxing. according to him he doesnt want to sit around. he wants to be back out in march/april fighting pascal again or someone for the vacant title.

 

Yeh Pascal has got his rematch with Dawson so why doesn't Hopkins try and fight Erdei or Cloud. Even fight someone like Andrade.

Hopkins just loves and excuse and is so tunnel visioned its annoying.

i don't think its good for boxing. you shouldn't be allowed to box beyond 40 and a maximum career should be 20 years.

 

It's good for him, but realistically he's on his way out. Yes, he's performing, but he's damaging the future fighters of the sport.
