Simply a VERY generous hometown decision. THIS was a robbery [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_BD5rCPcXJ0[/ame] Just saw that last round again, ****ing disgraceful :-(
The referee tried to save the hometown fighter, but according to your video, Bute was up at 8, no? :huh
Not even true. I'm tired of explaining this, but since you seem like a nice guy, here is a recap from one of my previous posts:
i hate when a fighter gets up in ample time during the count to. up at 8? what a clown. and dominating every sec of that fight? what's up with that bute. you should know better than to clearly win in your own "hometown"
I agree that Wright handled it atrociously, if you count it, it took him 22 seconds to count to 10. But Bute got up in time, so it worked out right. Hopkins should have gotten the win, but I can see how a draw came about without there being flagrant home cooking. A few close rds being thrown Pascal's way plus the KD's. However the swing on that fight worked completely in Pascal's favor, with a tie being his best case scenario. Hopkins best case would have been a 115-111 win.
i didn't keep track of the score but i thought the Draw was fair, i couldn't believe how many people were saying robbery when i came on these boards. i thought Maybe Hopkins by 1 point was fair as well but there were many swing rounds in that fight that would have been hard to score.
I had it Pascal by 2 points 114-112. Pascal won on a least one of the scorecards rounds 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 12 with round 10 being even on one of the scorecards. 116-111 for Pascal best case scenario.
Ok, but you would to have had to give Pascal the benefit of every close round to get there. It's all subjective. But to me, Pascal was outperformed in that fight. Personally, I had Pascal winning 1-4 and Hopkins winning every rd after. There were 2 or 3 that I wouldn't quibble with giving to Pascal, hence no robbery.
rewatch rounds 5, 8, 10, 12. I could see Pascal winning up to 8 rounds in this fight if you give him the benefit of the doubt in every close round like you said, but I only gave him 6.
I can't remember offhand, but those seem like the right ones. 5 and 10 especially. I don't like Hopkins, and went in not rooting for/against either guy.....just looking for a good fight, and got one. Not a great one, but a good one. I saw it how I saw it, and thought Pascal was fortunate to escape with the draw. PS- Were you able to hear Pascal's corner from where you sat? They were pleading with him going into the 12th, telling him he needed the round. They were worried.
