Dawson went life and death with a 40 year old Glen Johnson, same (well, actually older) Johnson Hopkins KO'd some time ago.

Calzaghe convincingly beat Hopkins and really put it on Bernard in the second half of that fight.

Styles make fights, I know, and Calzaghe's relentless, speed-driven approach is the perfect antidote for the fight-in-spurts, soft-chinned Dawson.

It also should be noted that Hopkins weighed 180 lbs. tonight. So anyone who thinks that Dawson is too big for Calzaghe should think again.

I always felt Calzaghe would easily defeat Dawson, but tonight there are no more questions. The second biggest winner from tonight's contest was the Welshman, and I have seen this reported in several sources already.

Though Calzaghe would undoubtedly prove superior to Dawson, a good matchup for him could be Hopkins. Seeing Dawson's propensity for fighting older men, Hopkins could be right up his alley.

Another thing we learned from tonight's fight is this: There isn't going to be a Dawson-Pavlik or Calzaghe-Pavlik fight made anytime soon. All the crap the Pavlik camp talked about Joe is over, for good. Kelly should not go above 160 lbs anytime in the near future. He looked slow in the second Taylor fight, and he looked almost immobile tonight.

I fancy Joe to beat Dawson but Hopkins last night shows us NOTHING in relation to the potential bout. Nothing.

As I said, the only guy who made out better than Calzaghe tonight was Hopkins himself. This fight seriously elevates Joe Calzaghe. Hopkins was that dominant.

I could not disagree more with that assessment.

Joe wouldnt whip ****. Dawson has faster hands and has pop. If anything Joe will have to figure out how to deal with Dawsons speed. Also I highly doubt Joe can hurt Dawson even though he doesnt have the best chin.

Have I missed something or was that skinny white kid last night called Dawson? Hopkins performance last night tells us nothing about how Joe would fare against Bad.

Dawson beat Johnson 8-4. Johnson landed some perfect punches in 2 of those rounds he won. Dawson was hurt, he threw some great combinations while he was hurt, he survived, and won a clear decision in a great fight. Johnson hits much harder than Calzaghe at this point in their carrers, so that one weakness in Dawson's game Calzaghe will not be able to expose nearly as easily which is the chin.

Chad Dawson has the footwork, handspeed, solid enough power, stamina, and combination punching to give both Calzaghe and Hopkins hell. He is clearly a top 3 LHW.

Joe would own Dawson, and it wouldn't be close. In fact, with Dawson horsesh*t defense and soft chin, there's a very real chance that Dawson would be KO'd due to Calzaghe's volume punching.

The fight would be a pasting. Dawson isn't ready for Diaconu, and Calzaghe would waste him. I've never been more certain of that than tonight.

I'd favor Calzaghe to beat Dawson just barely

I would like to see Hopkins-Jones II, even if Roy loses to Calzaghe. That could be a good fight, depending on how much Roy has left.

 Dawson has improved and it showed in his last fight. He has improved his defense and Dawson is the younger fresher fighter. Chad will cruise to a close but clear UD. Chad was ducking and moving against Tarver and he will do that against Joes punches. I have a feeling you might be a Adrian fan hating on Dawson. Hhmm. :think

  13. Hopkins would beat Dawson with ease.

Joe would beat Dawson with ease.

Dawson looked great versus a walking plank in tarver with a weak punch, slow jab and no infighting ability of course he looked good doing that! Give him a mobile counter puncher with speed & savvy and its game over Dawson.

Dawson's next, whether its Joe or Hopkins the Dawson Hype train ends soon.

I agree, although I do think his camp and Showtime will do everything in their power to help keep the Dawson Hype Express in business as long as possible.

At least Haye is going to fight Wlad relatively soon. Dawson? He's giving up titles and running from people like Diaconu to fight geriatrics. Well, Hopkins may be one old man that Chad wants little to do with. We'll see.

Tarver looked embarrassing in the Dawson fight. That was sad to witness.

I agree. Would be close though, somthing like 116-112 or 115-113 in favour of Calzaghe IMO.
