Did anyone else watch it? it got posted over on the scene. Not sure if i am allowed to link it. But man it made me emotional a few times, rarely seen someone talk with so much wisdom and completely humble. Offered absolutely no excuses and said age played no factor in the outcome. I am very biased as a Hopkins fan but i really doubt we will see another one like him.
The only time i've seen Nard humble and respectful. I dont like the guy, but i tip my hat to his bravery in taking the fight, and his honesty after the result.
I knew some people would still talk **** about Hopkins Which is fine tbh, to each their own... and even if he could bore me to tears in some fights, i still doubt i will see another fighter in my life time that is a walking boxing encyclopedia like Hopkins is.
Agreed. He probably made more fans in that one interview then in all his previous career combined. After the 1st round i knew Hopkins had NO CHANCE to beat Kovalev, it was really whether he could survive or not and he did that without his usual dirty tactics so HUGE RESPECT for him to do that against a Destroyer like Kovalev.
Glad I'm not the only one that could feel the emotion in his post fight interview. Even Oscar looked a bit teary eyed in the background, which led me to think that Bhop might announce his retirement. He didn't tho. Still, I take my hat off to the old man. I always knew he had a great chin, but I had no idea how great until last night. As to the comment about being humbled by "near death experience".,---Tyson was like that too. He seemed most at peace (in the ring), after an ass whooping. Particularly Tyson-Holyfield 1.
Yes I watched it.....................Hopkins gave mad respect to kov..............he even made a crack saying if he knew kov was watching him fight while kov was in highscool he would retire.....................
Now Bhop is Jesus lol. He couldn't use dirty tactics because that would require getting close and Bhop was quickly made to understand that getting close was a one way to ticket to the ICU at the local general hospital. Not to mention Kovalev would have countered in kind which Bhop wanted no part of from the looks of it. He was forced to fight clean under penalty of possibly death.
