Why are you asking this question. He clearly isn't shot. This would be a ridiculous question even before the Pavlik fight.I gave him a 9 by the way.
Are you kidding? after his last performance how can you ask something so silly? Or maybe you just dont understand what means for a boxer being shot
as i've been following Hopkins since he demolished Tito, and have since downloaded his career set, i find that giving him 9 is rediculous. I hesitated between 6 and 7. Hopkins in his prime had more pop and his stamina was much better. And he was just as good a ring general.
7 or 6 It's clear that at his age now that if the right pressure is applied he has acute stamina problems, and can't cope. Also does Taylor beat a Prime Hopkins twice*? *yes I know the two wins are disputed
you think that Hopkins that is 43, which fought Pavlik is worth a 9 and also calzaghe in the same in which he looked slow and tired than the hopkins which exposed 1 of the pound for pound best at the time tito trinidad in 1 of the greatest performances of breaking down a fighter
yea if u think about that then its not a insult its a compliment, im saying that hopkins career was great in 2001 when he showed something special you saying that the fighter who just 7 month ago looked tired and slow is near his prime is the insult
While not in his prime, he sure isn't shot yet.. I'd rate him at about 6 or 7 right now.. Though age is getting to him, he's still a P4P boxer..
i say a five... he doesn't have good snap in his punch and slower, and stamina has gone down. who the hell give it a 9????
He is neither shot nor prime, he is past-prime but still capable of fighting at a high level, not closing in on 'shot' at all. I give him a 7 based on the Pavlik performance. His prime was very approximately from around the Johnson fight in 1997 til around the De La Hoya fight in 2004, maybe that's a bit generous and he was already past-prime by the time of Oscar. His greatest performance was v Trinidad, absolute peak.
I think i'm gonna give a 9 too. Ofcourse he is not prime in condition. But he is way more tactical skilled then in his conditionally prime. I think this version of B-hop is better then late 90's b-hop. And definitly better then the 04-05 b-hop. Frankly, i don't think is ever saw a better fight from him then against Pavlik. Maybe the Tito fight. But if that was his prime, then he is now definitly a 9, at less!!
