Just heard that Kessler and Hopkins spoke briefly at the Calzaghe -Jones fight. They both want to fight each other! Source: (danish unfortunately: http://www.sporten.dk/kessler-hopkins-er-klar)
Hope this happens, if Kessler wins it will show that he is not over hyped. Which I think you could definitely argue a case for. If Hopkins wins then even more reason for JC to fight him. Although I can't see that fight ever happening, Calzaghe really hates him.
Mikkel Kessler and Bernard Hopkins met over the weekend and agreed on one thing: They would like to meet each other in the ring. Mikkel Kessler is close to a dream. A meeting with Bernard Hopkins. The two boxers gave each other a handshake that they'd like to meet, and then it's just up to television stations - and their money - and the showdown becomes a reality. If the money is right, the way is paved for Mikkel Kessler to fulfill his wish to have a great battle in the U.S. - and even against the living legend Bernard Hopkins. Both boxers showed up at the weekend Joe Calzaghe ended Roy Jones Jr. in New York. Before the fight started the Danish WBA-world champion and 43-year-old legend met each other. "We talked briefly and agreed that we'd like to meet in the ring" said Mikkel Kessler. Immediately, there are still no plans for the next move in Kessler's career. But it now looks impossible to get a rematch against Wales's Joe Calzaghe - there is only one man, Kessler wants to meet. We try to put it on with Hopkins and have put our heads together. So I hope soon, something happens, unfortunately, it is not known what will happen in this world, points out the 29-year-old Dane. Kessler still has dreams about finally having his breakthrough in the U.S., but he will not go over there to meet anyone. That is why Americans have a really good reason to stage Kessler's first major battle in the U.S. There must of course be a reason to go there, because they will not notice me if I meet some unknown. Therefore, I would obviously prefer to meet Hopkins. Of course, I can beat him, but he is an awkward and strong boxer. It will be a very hard fight, and Hopkins is incredibly good to destroy his opponent's boxing rhythm. Therefore, we must try to keep at a range. It would be a difficult challenge," said Mikkel Kessler.
