"I just don't want the American people, I don't give a damn what the European people think, but I don't the fans to think for some reason, that Joe Calzaghe is that much of a threat to Bernard Hopkins. He's fighting a legend, I'd just be beating a champion. I think 99.9% of the people can agree to that. He's fighting a legend. He beats me he becomes famous, I lose to him and I become nameless. Jay-Z said I shoot you I'm brainless, you shoot me you're famous. He has more to gain than I do, but I'm willing to take that 0 and make it a 1 on his record. I'm ready to prove that he's been protected and he's never fought out of Europe. This guy is a undefeated fighter, but who has he fought other than his last opponent?

"And he didn't really pose a threat to him. I can't really understand how he believes that he's all that when he hasn't fought the best of the best in the United States of America. He sounds like an idiot talking and he's just running his mouth."

THIS IS WHAT BERNARD HOPKINS SAID IN RESPONSE TO CALZAGHE'S COMMENTS. WHAT DO YOU THINK???

I think Bernard is forgetting the fact that HE called Calzaghe out BEFORE Joe fought Kessler. So that renders his statement about "who does he think he is" null and void - in Bernard's world: the legend called out the undefeated champion. Bernard's losing the plot a bit here although I give him props for realising that his last statement about Joe "not fighting outside of England" was inaccurate and it's been changed to "Europe".

Joe has also fought the best of the best that America had to offer in his weight class. I see no valid points in what he has to say.

Sounds like Warren/Calzaghe's getting to Hopkins. Nice to see he's thinking about what would happen to him when he loses.

Calzaghe wants to put a BIG name on his resume, and thinks he can beat a 43 year old Hopkins. It's that simple. That way all of his countrymen can cheer the legend Calzaghe who made 20 title defenses against tomato cans...

What do I think? That when these two do fight, many of you are going to be surprised when Hopkins wins decisively.

The Super Middleweight Division is inferior. He should fight Hopkins to prove that he is not a pseudo legend making a living off fighting weak opponents.

I won't be surprised. I expect Hopkins to beat him, but I get what you mean. People are all up on Calzaghe, when his style is made for hopkins. He comes straight forward, throws wide punches, and lacks consistent balance. Furthermore, Hopkins' lead right is perfect to smack Calzaghe and his lacking defense.

Joe would be fighting a legend, yes...and here is the big problem - he shouldn't be fighting legends with 2 fights left of his career and his legacy still to be cemented/enhanced - he should be fighting the 2 best live dangermen from 168-175...and Hopkins is not one of them...

"I lose to him and I become nameless!" Bollocks! Hopkins would only gain in reputation if he isn't completely shut-out by Joe...he would say..."Even at 43 I gave you a hard fight and you are very close to your peak - having just beaten Kessler! I would have smoked your ass in 2001 when I was at my peak and you had just entered your peak!"

Hopkins lost to a man who was beaten by Pavlik - who is not even at his peak yet - TWICE - and that didn't make him nameless, but losing to Joe would make him nameless? :rofl

Hopkins is a wise ol' fox...but he is not fooling anyone!

Forget it, Pops! You ducked him when it counted; now he should fight the best - and you ain't it anymore!:deal
