    Google Mayweather news!

This is what needs to be heard! Hopkins and Leonard give it up!

Leonard describes Floyd in relation to Ali!

    Floyd haters shut up! :bbb

Light heavyweight champ Bernard Hopkins, who at one time topped the pound-for-pound list, has given praise to Floyd Mayweather Jr, calling him the best fighter of his era. Before Hopkins lost two consecutive bouts to Jermain Taylor, the boxing world would often debate on the same subject: "Who is the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world, Hopkins or Mayweather?"

In a conversation with the Grand Rapids Press, Hopkins left no doubt as to which of them is the better fighter of their time.

"The best fighter of our era -- my era -- is Pretty Boy Floyd," Hopkins said. "There's no doubt."

Sugar Ray Leonard, one of the best fighters to ever step foot in a boxing ring, also told the paper Mayweather is the best of his time. Mayweather is often compared to Leonard.

"He's an amazing fighter," Leonard said. "Very economical. It's all about the eyes. He's one of the few fighters I've ever seen, like Muhammad Ali, he watches every move his opponent makes, and capitalizes on those mistakes. That's a gift. You can't teach that. Floyd's number one this era. He's proved that, against Oscar, now against Ricky Hatton. He's fought the best fighters of his era, so that puts him up there. There's a few more fights left in Floyd, and bigger and better things to come."

He may be as talented as Ali, but he's got a long way to go to be in the same league

Pretty cool. I'm shocked to hear that from a fighter with an Ego of Bernard Hopkins. And it's the truth

He is Top30 or Top25 right now. And yes, the best fighter of his generation. Better than Hopkins.

Ali is Top10 P4P of all time. He is definitely greater than Mayweather.

No ****, but the way he runs his mouth, he needs to get in there with Cotto instead of fighting guys that don't belong in that division.

If he beats Cotto..........MAD PROPS. **** if the gets in the ring with Cotto, MAD PROPS.

If he beat Cotto and then Williams, he's the best of all time.

Ali was the best in his era, mayweather is the best in HIS era, so that puts them as TWO of the best p4p ever.

Ali didnt just fight Liston, Frazier and Foreman. He also fought guys like Patterson, Cooper, Chuvalo, Williams, Terrell, and Quarry. Mayweather has already fought guys like DLH, Hatton, and Castillo. But he still needs to beat guys like Cotto, Mosley, Williams, Margarito and Cintron. Anyone and everyone that is a threat to his thrown before he is mentioned with that elite company.

There is no doubt, Floyds the best today by far. Not only that, but he'd be competitive with the best of all time, and a fight with the Welterweight version of Ray Robinson would be classic. Not only does he have speed and reflexes that only a few people in the world share, he works hard at technique and conditioning. And yes, Uncle Roger devises brilliant fight plans, and daddy Floyd did a great job in laying down the foundation for Floyds greatness.
I've never seen a fighter unanimously granted claim to greatness, even by those who despise him, me included.

thats what I dont understand. My understanding was that RJ was p4p #1 until he lost. RJ was #1 4 over a decade and change. B-HOP lost 2 JT shortly after RJ lost. a year later rather. So Bernard was legitimately p4p #1 4 a year. SO when was his era? He was great in Roy Jones era, never had an era of his own IMO.
