Calzaghe/Hopkins could be a win win situation for Hopkins, if he wins his legacy is that much greater plus he pulls in another big paycheck. If he fights Jones he avenges a loss that happend 15 years ago when he wasnt yet developed, not only does he get big money he also would pass Jones on the ATG list. Hopkins is the name and now holds all the cards, he can pick who he wants to fight.

As much as I love Hopkins, Calzaghe would beat him at this stage in their careers. Dawson would be a tougher fight for Calzaghe...

No, even if Kessler wins, he won't have that much name recognition. It wouldn't be as big of a money fight as Calzaghe. Kessler wins, Hopkins fights the Jones/Tito winner. Even if Calzaghe wins, he might do that anyway.

No, Dawson is something that will pay off in the long run. **** the old guys, go after the young talent that is truly worth something at the moment, a real challenge.

Why, exactly, would Hopkins be afraid of Calzaghe??

Why the hell would anyone want a tougher fight that pays less against a guy who's not held in as high of regard?

As for the long run, Calzaghe would stand to make SIGNIFICANTLY more if he fights Hopkins, and then fights Dawson for unification, and lets Dawson beat up a few more guys to become a bigger name.

Obviously Bernard knows deep down he won't be favored to win in this side of the Atlantic and on British shores and he can do the trick to Calzaghe in an atmosphere wherein Joe feels less at ease - let's say that Joe doesn't get confident to whirlwind Bernard like he did to so many others with New Yorkers booing him and drops his punch activity to the point of Bernard equalling the stats and get the psychological edge, he may lose to Bernard... It's a pity that may not happen just for that reason, two brilliant fighters, each with 20 successful title defenses - I say, do it and go to Japan if necessary... Or Bernard vs Mikkel Kessler ( if the Dane pulls that one with the Welsh)
