I thought you were smarter than this Osh. Number 1, I never made any comments about what I think is right or wrong. My posts have centered around my interpretation of people's actions. Number 2, stop responding my interpretations with how you personally feel about a situtation. Once again, I can't speak to individuals, I can only speak about people in general. The fact of the matter is, to a good extent, people really only care about racism when it effects them. There are of course extreme situations when this is not the case. Everyone keeps talking about what would happen if Calzaghe would've said similar remarks about Hopkins. From my experience, I would assume that black posters on this board would be generally upset, and white posters would be more likely to defend Calzaghe than they are Hopkins. I know this will **** people off, but it's human nature. There's a poster on this site named Jiggaboo Jones(at least there used to be, I think he was finally banned). Under his screen name reads "America's number one N i g g a". I've had to sit back and watch him post numerous racist and offensive posts. I've also noticed that, for the most part, people on this site didn't care. In fact, alot of them found the guy to be amusing. It's not hard to figure out why Jiggaboo Jones is tolerated on ths site, and Hopkins is getting killed. Once again, I'm not speaking to what's right or wrong, or what you would do. I'm talking about what I've seen and how I've interpreted it.
I hope you are kidding about zaghe not being able to fill the arena. His last fight sold over 52,000 tickets! i agree that he should not have brought out the racist promotional card. He must have got that from Don King. The great Larry Holmes and Cooney fought and the race card worked. However, that was 28 years ago and this does not need to be sold to the fans. Larry Holmes beat black boys and white boys. Don King instegated the black white thing.
and re Jiggaboo Jones, did you report his posts to the admin? That's just a troll harping on stereotypes, we have all different sorts of them on this site. I think people have to learned to let it slide. Also interestingly enough, Jiggaboo Jones does exist and I'm not sure if the comedian doing that character is just so unfunny that he has to rely on offensive stereotypes or if he's trying to get a message across. Someone responded to that alias with one that's the stereotype of an uptight snobby Englishman and now there's someone harping on Italian stereotypes... that's the lounge though.
The real Jiggaboo Jones is an even bigger disgrace than the fraud, and he deresves to get shot in the head. But that's another issue. You see how you justified the actions of Jiggaboo Jones, well alot of people use inflamatory remarks to promote fights. So by your logic, shouldn't people just learn to ignore Hopkins?
I know you're intelligent so I don't understand why you're having so much trouble with this. Just because Calzaghe happens to be white doesn't mean white people would defend him for saying racist comments towards Hopkins. I don't even like ****ing Calzaghe, he rubs me the wrong way. You've got this funny ****in idea in your head that people will always band together on the sole basis of their skin color, and it just doesn't work that way. You cited Dog the Bounty Hunter earlier as an example of how white people supposedly are outraged when racism statements are said by a black person, but are oh so happy to let it slide when a white person says them. That's not true, and Dog the Bounty Hunter is a weak ****ing example of that. I've never excused that fella for his behavior and I'm not a fan of him or his show - let's get that out of the way. But what he did is COMPLETELY different than what Hopkins did. Dog got in trouble because a private conversation between him and his son was recorded without his knowledge and sold to the media by his son. During the conversation he uses the word ****** multiple times, and seem to have this weird idea that when his family uses the word ****** they don't think of it as a negative term and that the general public wouldn't understand it. They're right, we don't. But nothing about that scene was in the public or professional sphere, was it? That doesn't mean his hands are clean, far from it, but it's a different situation than this. Hopkins on the other hand, was working to hype his fight. That's his job, and he openly resorted to this stupid race baiting ****, in a public arena. He even told the ****ing reporters, you can print that. Now I agree that Hopkins isn't a racist, but it's a low ****ing move and something that doesn't have a place in our society. You might say some simple bull**** about oh, people are already going to do that and cite certain fights but that is simply not true. I rooted for Mayweather, Chambers and yes I'm still rooting for Hopkins. I don't factor in someone's race. I didn't root for Winky Wright against Taylor because he happens do be lighter skinned. I don't like Taylor. So your assumptions about how people react to fights are bull****, and what Hopkins was doing was appealing to the worst in people. Not something he should've been doing.
Did I just justify Jiggaboo Jones? I said people don't pay attention to aliases in the lounge. I said if you feel offended petition to the admin. I mentioned he existed because I'm not sure what the comedian's intentions are. I don't understand how someone can act like such a blatant stereotype of his race and live with himself. READ MY ****ING POSTS MAN, GODDAMN.
