As a brother I wasn't offended (when I could easily have been) when Calzaghe was asked (in an Interview jointly done with Macrenelli over in NY) why he would be liked in the States, he gave as one of the reasons that he was WHITE!...so why on earth white brit folks are have fits over this comment, I do not know! (incidently there is a huge difference between the Alan Minters infamous comment-surrounded by BNP thugs and Hopkins soround by a bunch of WHITE journalists!)

 

Hopkins had **** all else to say he tried his bully boy tactics on Calzaghe, saw no fear in Calzaghe's eyes then came out with the White Boy shite because he was stuck for words for once.

So Hopkins made a derogatory comment. It doesn't give anybody a free ride to make racist remarks towards Hopkins. It's called being a bigger man; a concept many fail to grasp. I sort of enjoyed the effect Bernard's stupid statement had on here. It shows how many closet racists there still are. Joe showed some class keeping the trash talk clean of bigotry of any kind. Maybe his fans should take a cue?

 

A Racist person wont have the 2 most important people in his camp being white if he was racist.

He didnt say he didnt like white people, he just said he didnt think they could beat him. (To me it was the stuppiest thing he could have said, but to call him a racist its even being more stupid)

I don't think he said that particular comment to sell any fight.If you watch the clip he was walking away and Calzaghe was telling him if they fight he will lose and Hopkins just wanted to get the last word,pretty infantile but what do you expect from a 'ghetto' boxer persona

I think the definition of racist is the belief of superiority of one race over another,whether that be in boxing or anything else.

 

The "White Boy" comment was not meant to sell the fight. Bernard simply didnt know what to say when JC said that he will not lose. Or, Bernard was trying to say with the "white boy" comment that he will not lose to some bum from Europe however he did not know how to say it hence the white boy comment. Stupid comment IMO.
