Exactly,he isn't anymore racist than anyone else.In his life black boxers probably have been better, just like in Calzaghes life white boxers have been his hardest fights.

It feeds on exactly the same prejudices, yes.

No it does not. You may want to read up on cross burnings and the KKK before you make comments like that. Putting a burning cross on a black man's lawn is not equivlent to saying "I'll neve lose to a white boy", not even close.

Your the kid of fool who deserves a :patsch

And your bad at maths...your equating a group of thugs who's goal was to intimidate (hence the burnt cross) then burn alive or hang people who they belived were inferior to them because these people are darker them to a statement about not losing to a white guy and which was said infromntr of an all white press (but I guess to you they were some black panther movement)...FOOL!:nut

Perfectly aware of the context, thanks. And I didn't say the act was equivalent, I said it fed on the same prejudices.

You're still wrong. Nard qualified his statement by saying that where he's from he never saw many white faces in boxing gyms. The ones that were there weren't that good. As a result, it was never seen as acceptable to lose to a white guy. Burning of a cross is a decleration of war. Usually, when the Klan put a burning cross on someone's lawn it was followed by a lynching. Putting a burning cross on someone's lawn is symbol used by a group who holds the ulitmate hatred of another race. The Klan views themselves as completely superior to blacks in every way. The hate blacks so much, that their ultimate goal is the eradication of them from the U.S.

Quite simply put, it does not feed on the same prejudice

why would he need to create hype for a fight that is not on PPV? Makes ZERO sense. None. Why say those things?

cobbler has a point - by saying "fed on the same prejudices" it means that the pure basic instinct/feeling are related - not the final eventual acts. it shows that there is a feeling of both divide, and superiority over one race when compared to another.

the very statement "i will never let a white boy beat me" shows that b-hop feels both intimidated by white people, and probably from a young age, a belief instilled into him that white people are less than what he is, and thus he should never come second to one. this is the EXACT definition of racism.

now im not liking bhop to the KKK, im saying that like cobbler who is able to differentiate between prejudices, and brutal acts by psychopaths and arguably terrorists, hopkins shows in his statements that he feels that white people are not of equal status with either himself, or black people in general, and thus is promoting racism. he says it on global television - seen over the world, offers no retraction for his comments, and continues to goad people in a way PBF would show far more class than to sink to that level.

Boxing skills/achievements aside, the man is a thug, pathetic, and obviously very troubled and capricious. He, even in this day and age, still brings a colour barrier into it - and quite frankly, should be punished.

If it was said in any other sport - there would be hell up. If it was said in any other form of life, there would be hell up. He would be submitted to instant dismissal, and many other disciplinary matters - infact, he should and could easily be charged with bringing the game into disrepute. And with reference to the race relations act - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Race_Relations_Act - joe actually had a case of taking to court if he wished to.

Irrespective of selling the fight or not, the comments were racist, b-hop has history of such things, and as far as i, and standard racial law is concerned - he is a racist.

You're both missing the point. Hopkin's statement is stupid and indefensible but it also doesn't give anyone the right to make racist statements themselves. You shouldn't try defending dumb bigotry the BHop is spewing though. Just because he didn't see any white fighters in his gym doesn't give him the right to make sweeping generalizations like he did. Should I conclude that for example all black people are less intelligent then I am just because there weren't any in my school? Of course not!

    :rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl

Stop reading so much into this.

Hopkins simply watched The Naked Gun the previous night, citing his favorite movie character, Lieutenant Frank Drebin!

If Hopkins according to your is a racist then so too is Kes Hatton (proud mate of a clearly RACIST comedian, Team Hatton being ALL WHITE (can't say the same about Executioner INC) and 99.9% of his fans are WHITE):good
