im not "reading so much into this"

im saying he is a racist.

my personal feelings on him have no bearing whatsoever on the fact - im simply pointing out that you, and other people can make excuses all you want for him - although the fact that YOU are the ones having to make those excuses, for me, says EVERYTHING; it doesn't deny, or take away from the fact that he knowingly, purposely, makes racist comments, abusing his position as a role model, and thus not only is a racist, but promotes racism and abusing his position in GBP in a role that involves promotion itself, and his position as a top level elite boxer and a world champion, by making these comments, without apology or retraction.

Thats the very definition of a racist - however, fittingly, this can be settled in the ring. Lets stop the arguments about whether or not he is a racist, the argument is futile and laughable, but continue to analyse the intriguing strengths and weaknesses of two fighters of very similar achievements and arguably resume's, and wait for what should hopefully be a fantastic fight on the 19th.

    :rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl

I'll say it right now: Hopkins ain't gonna lose to no white boy!

Does this make me a racist?

Nope! Not reading too much into anything!

    :rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl

so being a friend of someone who is a racist makes one a racist? i disagree

i'm unsure of who you speak about - kes hatton i dont know, but i will state that i've never seen one racist comment from ricky, or his father - correct me if i'm wrong, and considering that he and witter are pretty much mortal enemies - and there is not ONE SINGLE RACIST COMMENT BETWEEN THEM, i would state that his team, as a whole are not racist.

if you want to see verbal sparring, and promotion between one black and one white fighter - maybe even one white team, and one black team, yet done in a class act with regards to anti-racism, watch the build up to Ricky Hatton v Floyd Mayweather..

Although i invite you to prove me wrong, i think you're mistaken (being very generous) about Team Hatton having racist relations.

pretty much - yes it does.

you are saying that hopkins - whether as an individual, or as a race in black fighters, is and are superior to all white people, which is the VERY definition of racism - belief in the superiority of one race over an other.

and no amount of laughing smileys will make you seem any more convincing - let the argument go - there is a far better prize at stake in the fights, not racism.

I think Hopkins has gotten away far too easy on this one. Imagine if Calzaghe says 'I'll never lose to a black boy' there would be an outrage in america. Yet its okay for a black man to say it to a white man. Its total bs and double standards.

I dont mind Hopkins selling the fight but that comment was not right and its total crap that because he is black he can say it, calzaghe woulda been hung strung and quartered for saying the same to hopkins.

Stupid comment indeed, do you think we would see a similarly mute press/public reaction to this if calzaghe states he will 'never lose to a black man'?

When the hell did I defend what he said? Giving an exlanation is not the same as defending.

You can conclude whatever the hell you want. Furthermore, Hopkins never said they were less athletes than him, he just said he wouldn't lose to one. Check out this quote.

Remind me again, wasn't it not Kes dad who referred to the fight as good (i.e white) vs evil (black).:hi:

There's also a quote out there where Hatton has DEFENDED Manning on the race issue (as if he can speak for black folks in the UK:patsch )..Myself and most black folks can see through the likes of the Hatton clan...would love for you to count the number of black folks who visit his local (pub)

You don't know what you're talking about. What about when Bill Romanowski said he was taking pills to, as he put it, "keep up with the nigg ers"? What about when Paul Hornrung said that Notre Dame should lower their academic standards in order to get the black athlete as he put it? Where was the outrage in these situations? People need to stop with this if Calzaghe would have said it, this would've happen bull****. Boxing isn't even that big in America.

You've made a thread about the comment... so Hopkins got exactly what he wanted out of it. Attention. Therefore, no he didn't shoot himself in the foot.

When he threw down the Puerto Rican flag, he got the reaction he wanted again. When he mushed Winky, again he got the media and national attention once again. That's not shooting yourself in the foot, that's getting your name and the fight out and in the minds of the public.

now why on earth do you result to insulting me directly - i've refrained from doing so to you - it makes my arguments less credible - although i feel yours has none to begin with so you may as well..

that article is one, of many - just because it happened to support your view, doesn't make it right, or even any more valid over mine.

If i had time - and please dont goading me or making comments about this, i would find one of many articles which has a contrary view to the one you showed above.

You are entitled to your opinion, you are wrong - obviously, but you are still entitled to be so.
