lets look at it in another way - a girl who i've been in love with for years, and i absolutely adore, comes from a family who is racist - not openly, but as a family, have racial views - she has grown up with those views, although doesnt express it publicly.

does that make me a racist? no.

if the sign of manning was up due to support of the racial comments - i would agree with you, and suggest the poster be taken down. however hatton was a friend of the comedian, and i'd have a guess that the relationship was of more than agreement of racial views.

there is every good chance hatton may not agree with those views - which suggests he is non racist.

i dont presume to know, but he didnt publicly try to turn it into whites v blacks and that shows some class

I never thought it was a big deal. You can't deny the racist implications of the comment though. No matter how hard you try.

When Frank Drebin said "The only thing I know about boxing is never bet on the white guy"--was that racist?

    Seriously?

:think If Hatton felt he had a substantial number of black supporters and at the same time not cause offense to the thousands of white manchester city supporters, he would have removed the poster...

Can something be both racist and funny?

Sure. Stand-up comedians make a living on such (or at least they did prior to the days of political correctness when a joke about watermellons or fried chicken would tear the house down).

But is what Hopkins said, or what Drebin said REALLY racists???

    I mean, come on now!

    Fair enough.

I must concede, though, I am utterly baffled that any grown man would make a big deal over what Hopkins said, unless he himself was a racist who is sick and tired of the double standard.

Otherwise, it makes no ****ing sense. None whatever.

Do you think if Calzaghe enters the ring wearing an 18th century slave trader outfit complete with whip in a carriage being pulled by six blacks that Hopkins would find that offensive?

You could be emotionally unmoved by something but find it technically racist. It's somewhat like Hopkin's boxing: boring a ****, yet technically masterful.

I have no idea, but I would probably die laughing if he actually did that!

Worst yet, if every time Calzaghe hits Hopkins he yells "your name is Tobey"!
