i think this fight is INEVITABLE

Bute is the big name in Canada and the money is there more so than Dawson-Hop

B-Hop shouldnt wait too long to get this done i hope

Hopkins should fight Dawson since he's his mandatory and it was agreed that Dawson would temporarily step aside so that Hopkins and Pascal could rematch and then Dawson would get the winner (assuming he beat Diaconu, which obviously he did). Fair's fair, Dawson gets his shot.

I'll be laughing if Dawson somehow gets screwed over again and doesn't get his shot at Hopkins.

You'd have to get Bute to fight Hopkins which wouldn't happen since Bute enjoys beating bums and read headed step children.

Hopkins vs. Dawson would be much more exciting.

Dawson is a better fighter than Bute so hopefully Hopkins takes the more challenging fight.

That said, Dawson is also boring as f*ck so we won't be missing out on too much if Hopkins skips over him.

Which idiot was the first who started this "Bute only fights bums nonsense" just so I could slap him/her? He beat Bika and Miranda more convincingly that Ward, Magee more decisevly than Froch, toyed with Berrio and gave Andrade his rematch and a knockout. He also signed with Showtime to fight the S6 winner and might get Kessler before that. Does this sound like he's only interested in bums? :think Who are the names who are willing and available to fight and he ducks them? Hopefully Hopkins will just realize fighting Chad makes no sense and go straight for Bute, and guess what, Lucian will jump at the opportunity.

Seriously now. Where the **** is this bum Bute talk comes from? He wasn't even invited to the S6 and now people act like as if it's his fault.

    Magee is a bum.

Andrade looked stellar against Pryor Jr..... oh wait. Nevermind.

    Miranda is washed up.

    Bika is average at best.

When he fights Kessler and if he wins, then get back to me on Bute being an opponent.

If this is true, how is Hopkins supposed to fight Bute anytime soon?

The winner of Hopkins-Pascal II was contractually obligated to face Chad Dawson in their next fight, given Dawson was able to get past Diaconu. Though Richard Schaefer has apparently stated he'll be looking for "loopholes" in the contract to have Bernard face someone else since he feels that fight would be "boring." However, if it does come off..it's expected to take place in Montreal.

That would be a great card.

Bute facing the S6 winner is the plan why him and Showtime both signed, but that might not come very soon since we're yet to get past the semi-finals. Why not fight B-Hop in the meantime and at worst Hopkins will be the one in line for the S6 winner? Hopkins recently appeared on Showtime and I think they fancy the idea to bring the old man around their tourney.

His point is that although only a parade of bums, semi-bums, and a couple of limited one dimensional fighters have ever been invited to get in the ring with Lucian - more and more decent fighters are setting up a tent on his front lawn, pounding on his front door asking him to come out and play and this should tell everyone that Lucian is finally going to have to capitulate and fight someone decent because if he doesn't he will have wasted the entirety of his prime years. Unless he plans to dig a tunnel out the back of his property he can't very well pick out more Jesse Brinkleys - well, unless Gary Locket wants to move up to 168 - and show his face around town as more and more are laughing as they call him "Sven" or "Calz" or "Ice Rink Champ" and questioning his disturbing selection of opponents.

A man in a relatively good place/area where boxing is actually still able to draw discretionary spending dollars has a lot of leverage to control the promotion and put together competitive athletic events if he desires greatness or he can continue to book the division's losers if he is afraid of getting easily derailed. As a valedictorian from the Calzaghe School of Career Management it is not altogether clear whether he will stand against the important survival precepts he was indoctrinated with but at a minimum he does have a near 50 year old prowling around on his front lawn so the TS is apparently optimistic that Lucian can raise the courage needed to fight an old man and/or perhaps Mikkel Kessler if Kessler will provide current documentation that he is legally blind now or is at least looking to purchase a seeing eye dog.

The Super 6 finals are set to take place at the end of the year. This means that Bute could face the winner around this time next year. So why would Bute go up to LHW to fight Hopkins when he has that fight in his back pocket? In the interim, he can get a fight with Kessler. I don't see Bute passing up a fight with Kessler in order to jump up to LHW to fight Hopkins, especially with a fight with the Super 6 winner on the horizon.

This is all good, but BigBone is framing this thread as if Hopkins has his choice between Dawson and Bute. He doesn't. I don't see Bute fighting above LHW anytime soon, and I don't see Hopkins droping down to 168.
