So nobody that's considered a live body is allowed to sign with HBO or any other network other than Showtime for the slim chance that Bute will take a fight with them? Not only that, they have to fight Bute in his safehouse. This is all in fairness to Bute right?:nut

Hopkins is an ATG. He doesn't need Bute, Bute needs Hopkins. If Hopkins wants the fight, Bute needs to act like a champ for once and step up and take the fight...with or without Showtime's BS contract.

agreed. theres no upside to beating a guy in dawson that lost to pascal...
but Bute wont fight him...im sure hes got fights lined up with Les Sherrington, Robin Reid, or maybe even Pete Manfredo that should tie him up for 18 more months

    for Bute it makes more sense to fight Kessler and then the S6 winner;
but who knows what's going to happen.

Bute is an easier fight for Hopkins than Dawson is. Not to mention there's more money in it.

In your fantasy world, anyone can break a contract in a snap. Unfortunately, we live in the real world.

Fact is Hopkins know very well that Bute is with Showtime for another year. He also knows that he is with HBO for 2 more fights. He knows that when he calls Bute, it is for nothing because the fight can't get made before next year.

I personnally would love Bute to fight Hopkins but I do understand what a contract is.

Bute-Hopkins would be the bigger and better fight, not too mention easier for Hopkins. But, I don't see that fight happening, atleast anytime soon. I don't see Hopkins moving down and I sure don't see Bute moving up to challenge him. The HBO-Showtime contracts would make this very difficult to happen as well.

Most likely, Hopkins faces Dawson or maybe even Cloud on HBO while Bute faces Kessler/Pavlik this winter and the Super 6 winner early 2012. Maybe, at that point they could face each other but there's a lot that could and probably would go wrong between now and then.

I didn't feel like reading through five pages to find out if anyone had pointed this out yet, but since B-Hop has one more fight contracted with HBO, and Bute has a contract with Showtime, this fight won't happen anytime soon.

Well, you "missed" some haters saying Bute should break his BS contract and fight Hopkins. If he does honor his signature, he will be ducking Hopkins.

I think Hopkins has 2 more fights with HBO.

It's easier to win, but at the same time I think it's more dangerous because Bute is a big puncher.

I didn't see anyone saying that. What I did see, was yourself making a blind sweeping statement that if Bute-Hopkins can't or doesn't happen, then it is all Hopkin's fault.:patsch

Even if they were both Showtime or both HBO, the fight wouldn't happen. In a few years time you might finally realize why.

Despite what haters think, Dawson is a risk for Hopkins, who doesn't have too much in the tank left. He wants to leave the ring without any defeat, too bad that won't happen because now Hopkins is fighting the best SMW and LHW's in the world who can beat the tar out of him.

Come on Hopkins don't be a cherry picker, fight the man who you are obligated to fight, and that's Chad Dawson.

So it's OK for Bute to fight JP "Faceplant my way into a title shot" Mendy without Showtime, but not Hopkins?
