Wright, despite clearly smaller then Hopkins, fought in front of Tito all night unlike Hopkins who was avoiding Tito like a plague during the early rounds.
Winky-Tito was a one-sided clinic seldom seen in big fights with elite fighters. It was one of the best boxing lessons given out in years.:deal I still say Winky schooled Tito worse than Hopkins did.
I think so too to some extent. While Hopkins physically beat Tito down, Winky put on more of a boxing clinic. He was just toying with Tito with the jab.
I gave Trinidad the first round against Hopkins, and none afterwards. I don't remember giving Trinidad any rounds against Wright. Maybe one out of sympathy when a round was close.
That's just it he beat him with his jab alone and no matter how hard he tried Tito had no answer for it. It was surreal to watch. He dominated and humiliated Tito that night far worse than Hopkins did when Tito went out on his shield.
Tito at least managed to LOOK aggressive against Hopkins because early on Bernard was showing him too much respect. Against Winky he could do simply nothing.
tito got a sympathy round fighting wright. it was a supreme schooling by all means. while calzaghe v lacy was a beatdown wright simply sat back and toyed with a boxer who in the eyes of many was a legend. Oh yeah and the reason for no knock out? look at the end of the fight. wright was looking for another payday and didnt plan on dominating the way he did.
I would've complimented him too........That mofo took $1 million from his purse to make that fight happen, that's why I **** with Tito. But anyways no comparison, Bernard beat a Prime/optimum peak/Tito 40-0 Tito with titles in 3 weight divisions who was on top of the world. Winky beat a guy who had just beat Mayorga, which is like preparing for a spelling exam by taking math classes for 6 months:nut The performance of Tito was SO BAD that Winky didn't even have to show any skill, where as Bernard HAD to show the full reportoire to win that fight... Bernard was fighting the BETTER fighter:deal
It was a little surprising how Wright was the one moving up in weight, yet he looked like the larger man in the ring. [YT]yn-2DzSyo3w[/YT] [YT]n4PiI5wYK9o[/YT]
I've always thought Wright looked like a super-middleweight when he was fighting at 154. His arms, shoulders and back are huge.
yeah i remember that. i had just gotten back from north africa a few days before. my little welcome home present. Wright knew the big fights were few and far in between and wanted to milk this one. too bad he looked to good for his own good. poor winky.
