I doubt that. Hopkins is too smart for Dawson.

Winky ???????? Yet a again another former WW. Thats the problem with BHOP's notable wins is that he always had a huge size advantage.

Johnson was a good win but dont go over the top basically Johnson has fought journey men and cans before fighting BHOP.

Maybe Trnidad was in his prime but if Kelly Pavlik beat prime Cotto would it really be that immpresive?

Bernard Hopkins: J. David Jackson, G. Johnson, Brown, Trinidad, De la Hoya, Tarver, Wright, Pavlik

Joe Calzaghe: Lacy, Kessler, Hopkins, Jones

It's obvious who has the better resume. . .

The fact that you posted that he has 2 defenses against Segundo Mercado...who was actually the guy he won the title from, and therefore wasnt a defense...shows just how high your boxing intellect is.

Please dont feed the troll guys.

And for the ones who agree...why dont you try following golf instead of boxing...you know, something more your speed.

*winky is not a WW.... he was a big Jr Middleweight, one that also fought succesfully at middleweight, and also in his draw with jermain taylor, imo that validates him as a decent win. Im not saying this is a win over prime winky at 154... no.... but its still a valid win. That winky i would also take over jeff lacy (the one Joe C beat) and yet lacy is one of JC's best wins no? you have to put these things into perspective and mine is that winky was still a good win.

*Cotto is a truly natural welterweight, who i doubt would be succesful at 154 because hes already giving up too much height at 147, so i guess if cotto was bigger, then moved to 154 and trashed that division, then moved up to middleweight and trashed sturm (id say equal to titos thrashing of joppy) then anyone whos reasonable would have to give props if he was defeated, but none of that is the case, in which makes the tito-cotto analogy completely void imo. Hard to blame hopkins for fighting a guy that was dominating the divisions he was moving into, including his short stay at middleweight.

*Johnson was a good win... just like the previous two

    *Tarver

    *Pavlik

I guess i just dont see why people are trying to dissect him the way this thread is.... you DO realise you can do that to EVERY fighter if so desired correct?

Take note posters...Here is a guy that hasnt a clue about boxing...Mercado was never a defence, they fought twice for a vacate title. Lipsey was the hottest fighter in boxing at the time, one could say he was the Kessler of his era...A fighter that hadnt done anything but everyone expected big things from him. Lipsey was a very good fighter and was retired at the hands of Hopkins. Johns David jackson, Andrew Council and robert allen were as good as anyone Cazlaghe defended against, except his last three fights. Simon Brown knocked out a prime Terry Norris. Echols was a two time number one contender and a guy that Cazlaghe shamelessly ducked when stating that he would fight the winner of Echols vs Brewer only to fight the loser stating that Brewer was the REAL winner even though he got knocked out by Echols. Holmes was a very good fighter who beat the crap out of Woodhall who gave a much bigger Calzaghe a tougher fight.

All in all Hopkins has a very solid resume, one that is much better then Calzahge which Im sure is the point of you thread....

    OH yeah

    YOU FAIL

The funny thing is...this jerkoff that made the post is actually saying the Joe Calzaghe's biggest win is over an overrated fighter who achieved what he did with smoke and mirrors.

    What a moron...

if hopkins was'nt smoking these guys they would have been middle weight champs and a couple could have stayed on top for a bit.

I definitely agree it is easy to go through a boxer record and be dismissive and try to downplay the significance of their wins.

If hopkins is smoke and mirrors than calzaghe is too. Compare calzaghe's opposition to hopkins and you will find that they aren't near as good. You have to give calzaghe the edge considering he "beat" hopkins (technically), but i would say neither are smoke and mirrors, so to say that about hopkins is just dumb.
