How many 50 year olds are crushing "cans" for World Championships in the most dangerous sport in the world?. You ought to be glad you're still alive at 50, worthless keyboard *****.

C'mon, some years ago, there was no such thing as junior middleweights and super-middles. The names that Hopkins beat have to do with former titlists, unbeaten challengers and favourites to win those fights: Segundo Mercado, William Joppy, Keith Holmes, Joe Lipsey, John David Jackson, Simon Brown, Tito Trinidad, Carl Daniels, Robert Allen, Antwon Echols, Oscar De La Hoya, Winky Wright, Kelly Pavlik, Antonio Tarver, Howard Eastman, Jean Pascal, Tavoris Cloud and Roy Jones Jr.

Kessler is not an ATG, hes not done anything close to make HoF.

Having to move up from MW because you werent good enough to cut it there and going up to weaker SMW division to unify briefly does not make you either.

the best you can rate him is close to elite, or perhaps elite, at SMW.

Would you consider Kessler an ATG if the division wasn't so young?

Or if it had the history of a MW or LHW?

although Joe didn't clearly have the skills to beat Hopkins, getting floored and hit repeatedly until Hopkins gassed, he still had lungs young enough to volume out Hopkins whn Hopkins tired.

Joe eventually found a way to beat Hopkins, that of waiting till he was 40something.

Joe was smart, heclearly knew how to find a way to beat legends, that was to wait 10 years till they were fading and then showboat on them when their lungs were gassed.

    Kessler?

If he's an ATG then wow boxing has sunk to low standards.

    I understand what you're saying.

The basic thrust of he question was, if Kessler had done what he'd done at MW or LHW, with their rich history and lineage, would you consider him an ATG?

Calzaghe's punch output and stamina was amazing. Hopkins lost the fight in the second half of the match due to Calzaghe's pace. No disgrace to Hopkins but due to Hopkin's age the win is not as good as it could have been for Calzaghe.

Abraham probably, not so sure about Pavlik. Would have been a nice fight though.

It's a nice thing to be a 4 time titlist, but in this day and age it isn't nearly the accomplishment it would have been. In the days since there have belts aplenty, it really matters who you fought, and not so much whether they held a trinket. It's nice. But we all know that being a beltholder and being the best in the division aren't always in sync. It'll take more than 1 or 2 big wins.

Edit: To clarify, I do think Kessler was among the best of the division. Not always the case with beltholders.

man they love bragging about beating a 43 year old man that had lost 2 of his last 4....oh 3 out of his last 5 after Joe.
Sooooooo shouldnt Jermain Taylor be an ATG because he beat him 2 times? WTF?????
