I just realized these fighters lost, and Calzaghe didn't.

It's all about agenda and preference.

Some people literally give Mayweather no credit for his 13 point victory over Juan Manuel Marquez... despite Marquez, at the same weight and a couple years later, destroying the second best P4P fighter behind Floyd with one of the greatest KO's in recent times.

There is little consistency when it comes to things like this.

Sugar Ray Robinson < Joey Archer < Emile Griffith < Alan Minter < Tony Sibson < Frank Tate < David Telesco < Byron Mitchell < Joe Calzaghe. THE END

Sugar Ray Leonard < Hector Camacho < Oscar De La Hoya < Bernard Hopkins < Joe Calzaghe. THE END

Marquez always looks way better when fighting Pac for some reason.

How do you know when a fighter is a bum with a sour resume?

When their only hope to appear great is to piggy back against another fighter's accomplishments becuse they have so very little accomplishments of their own.

I wouldn't say Hopkins had no accomplishments of his own, but he was piggy backing off Joe for sure. :deal

To BHOP, Calzaghe is as irrelevant, or maybe even more irrelevant as Taylor.
When you are a winner, there is no need to proclaim' I beat so and so, who beat this and that, who defeated Tom, Dick and Harry, so I am great.

Hopkins just keeps winning and winning and winning and each win further separates him from the bums like Calzaghe who lacked the skills to keep winning as BHOP is doing. :yep

Hopkins was past his physical prime, I mean at age 42 he no longer had his 'youth'.

What makes Hopkins a top fighter still today despite being way past his physical prime, is what separates him from the rest of his rivals like Roy Jones Jr, Calzaghe, James Toney....

Hopkins was a strategical genius in and out of the ring, while some fighters were sniffing coke or making **** rap songs or spending hours in Burger King (Subliminal), Hopkins was taking proper care of himself, in the gym and looking for low risk high reward situations to capitalise on.

Generally past the age of 40 a man regresses physically, this is/was the case of the majority of mankind. But only a few are able to make up for such loss in physical attributes.

Hopkins probably has the best discipline of all time.. even while not training for a fight..

I remember reading that Jones had a weakness for junk food, and on MTV cribs his fridge and cabinets were filled with it.

I have huge respect for Hopkins for being able to do what he has, and to be fair not Calzaghe or Jones get any credit for Hopkins being a champ at nearly 50, for being better on a day. That is all through will and dedication of Hopkins, as boring and ugly as his fights may be.
