and Joe passes with flying colors (considering no one looks good agaisnt Hopkins.) Joe got knocked down, but got up and fought one hell of a fight. Hopkins tried everything in his power to to mess up Joe, but at the end of the day his boxing skills, and dirty tactics just werent enough. Having this said, i think Bernard Hopkins deserves a ton of credit, because just as Joe did better agaisnt Hopkins than most, if not all of BHops previous opponents, Hopkins did better agaisnt Joe than anyone i can remember. For my final thoughts i'll just say it was a great fight, and the right man won, but, what do u think?
Awesome post. As someone who fully expected Hops to win, I still think he's great and have a totally newfound respect for Joe... Legacy defining fight if ever there was one for Joe. :smoke
Joe did great, and he deserves the win, all the credit in the world but i think we shouldnt just forget about Hopkins, at the late age of 43, he still gave Calzaghe a tough fight, knocked him down, and still managed to (in the words of Kellerman) not lose convincingly.
I'm not sure if Hopkins learned, ( i think he is too grumpy to learn, or admitt he learned something) but Calzaghe was superb as always an adapted just as he needed to. It was tough, but none the less a great perfomance by Joe :good
Agree totally. neither fighter looked at there best, but thats the best i've seen anyone look against either of them. A bit dissapointed with the low blow antics, but i feel hopkins knew he's was losing and was looking for a point deduction.
Good job Rumsfeld. Your the first guy I've read who, as a boisterous pre-fight supporter of Hopkins, came on here and gave proper credit to Calz. performance as well as B. Hops.
hopkins ran out of ideas, then tried the low-blow thing, which worked great. the last two rds he's trying to feint calzaghe in for a bomb, didn't work
Love to see the cheater Hopkins without the payed off reff Cortez, fighting in the UK.....what is B hop 1 and 1 for his only 2 fights out side his security blanket US....ROFL
I wonder why americans fighters dont go to the UK and they are not considered to be fighting in a cucoon, or the comfort of their home turf through out their career. Shouldnt they also prove themselves over seas??? Very few do it, and the ones that dont are given a free pass.
