He couldve finished the fight and stepping into the ring and throwing in the towel is the same thing.

Just like MAB v PAC ... his trainer stepped into the ring and stopped the fight.

Someone honestly thinks that Tito could have fought a rematch? Why is it a ***** move by Hopkins not to give a rematch? He dominated Trinidad from the opening bell, hurting him more than once, finally ending the fight with a knockout. Since when is this grounds for a rematch?

As much as i like Tito i there is not much to say about that fight ... i do not know how Bernard fought the way he did that fight but it was absolutely perfect, and he closed to show as a champion does.
All kudos to Tito for fighting his heart out and never giving up.

There was no need for a rematch, and I haven't seen this fight since fightnight, but I recall Hopkins saying he would have happily granted him a rematch in the post-fight interview because "I need my millions!"

    :rofl:rofl:rofl

Flawless? No, not flawless....not yet, anyway!

I really couldn't believe that Hops was a 4:1 underdog against Trinidad around the same time that Byrd was a 4:1 underdog against Tua.

However, since the date of the Hops fight was moved, they scored that one a push and I only got my winnings for picking Byrd, rather than the parly winnings which would have been considerably higher.

Again to my point...did it matter?

So he loses by 12th rd TKO stoppage (by corner) or ridiculously wide UD.

And the point that was made that Hopkins should have given Trinidad an immediate rematch???? TITO RETIRED AFTER THE LOSS!!!! How can you rematch someone who doesnt fight anymore (now he did come back and fight again...but seriously...that would be like asking Calzaghe to rematch Lacy...there was just no point in it).

Absolutely, probably my saddest moment in the sport, "non death-wise" other than Ali losing to Larry Holmes:-(

Man, I've never seen a P4P fight be that "one-sided"....
Bernard REALLY beat his ass that night to the point where that's a fight I don't touch in my inventory:yep

    NO REMATCH was needed..btw

    Are you stupid?

Tito was the number #1 p4p guy at the time that he lost to Hopkins and he was a big cash cow ... :good

In 2 years he managed to win 3 world titles in 2 different weight classes ...

But he was arguably shut out...embarassed and stopped (by the corner after taking ALOT of punishment and dropped). What would a rematch prove???

Again, should Calzaghe have rematched Lacy? Or Floyd rematched Hatton (I mean, they might do it and LOOK AT HOW BAD ITS BEING BLASTED!!!!)?

If they had rematched, Tito probably would have been stopped earlier. And you are ignoring the fact that Tito didnt ask for a rematch, he lost, then promptly retired. Ya cant fight a fighter who doesnt want to fight.

Good points but for the money ... Tito was down for whatever ... if you beat the guy like that why not doing it again ... if people are willing to watch it and you're getting paid more ... why not?

Making money is never a waste of time
