When Bhop was in his prime wasnt the fighter he is now. He is alot craftier now than back then. Bhop in his prime threw way more punches and he was a noted puncher. The fight would be good and i could see him winning. I have all his fights on dvd so i pretty much know the BHop angle. He would not whip Joe.
Was a good fight. Alot scrappier than I thought, I knew there would be clinching and Nard would hold that arm all night. He didn't break a sweat until round 4, but as soon as he did he just faded and faded and was completely wasted by 11 and 12. He's lost alot of his fitness for sure... not to take away from Calzaghe but he just needed to outwork him and not get clocked for the last 4 rounds... I've never really been a fan of this fight - I think it should have happened 4 years ago or not at all, sure Calzaghe has Hopkins on his resume but it's not the Hopkins that was p4p #1 on everyone's lists...
I think a younger hop would have been a tougher fight for Cal. Truth is BH is too old, he doesn't have it anymore. He hugged more than I expected. I thought if he just landed a bit more of those big rights.Even at his age 43 he was able too hurt Cal wid it. I have no doubt if that was prime HOpkins in there, he woulda seriously hurt Calzaghe..
Thought it was a **** fight largely due to Hopkins wanting to clinch the whole fight . I said it before the fight that if calzaghe boxed at a distance he would decision Hopkins easily however hopkins had the correct game plan in rushing calzaghe and not letting him do so . But from round 1 hopkins clinched and was never warned nor had threats of points being taken off ..i dont think the ref did a good job with this . As the fight when on i felt Calzaghe would be stronger in the later rounds as hopkins tired which would get some distance between the two fighters and allow calzaghe to pick hopkins off . but in saying that i was concerned hopkins had built a handy lead in the first 5 rounds and calzaghe may be unable to real him in , and when calzaghe was winning rounds he wasnt winning them convincingly as i would have liked . I thought given hopkins early lead and the knockdown in round 1 and given the fight was in the us i thought hopkins would get the decision by 1 . but was more than happy to see calzaghe hand raised as winner by SD as i trotted down to the TAB to collect $$$$$ I think we will see a rematch ...
Calzaghe 8-4, less one for the KD so by 3 points. Hopkins at his usual hugging and butting best. Cortez is a little ****ing ***** of a referee and I really hope he never gets another big fight to ref. Hopkins was leading with the 3rd fist all night and had Joes right arm pinned most of the time. An ugly fight for sure, but Calzaghe definitely won it. Who knows what that ***** was seeing when she gave BHop the nod...
I saw the fight as a wide UD for Joe...... 116 - 111. The fight went just as everybody said....Joe will throw lots of punches and BHOP will counter. In the end Joe will take on RJJ and the call it a day....everybody will say Joe never fought any A grade fighters in the prime however he will retire undefeated. I thing is for sure...both those guys will get a spot in the hall of fame :good
Your brilliant betting strategy of choosing the black man has obviously failed you again. Better luck next time.
Fair enough. I disagree though. I think most people recognise Kessler as an A-level fighter. Boxing fans in general put too much emphasis on one result. Losing a close fight to Calzaghe doesn't make him any worse. If Lacy had of splattered Joe in a few rounds he'd have been the next big thing. Joe boxed his ears off and everyone thinks he was ordinary. Obviously he has deficiencies, every boxer does. Kessler will be a better fighter for going 12 hard, tough and close rounds against Calzaghe. I'm looking forward to his next outing.
I was on ther main forum the other day and 90% of people thought Kess was B grade.....for the record I think Kess is A grade.
You and your ****in loud mouth know exactly what the bet was. I bet you that Joe wouldnt beat Hopkins easily by four or more rounds (yeah it's coming back to you know aint it) :deal You're gonna have to pay up ****. BTW every post i said Joe was gonna win
