    Calzaghe best wins:

Eubank - wasnt even training for this fight, took it at 10 days notice.

Kessler - who ? has beat who ? has done what ?

Hopkins - Bhop at worst shape of his life, gased after 8 rounds stunned slappy with every single punch he landed and made him look amateurish.

Yeah, I can hardly type I am so BLINDED BY HATE  :patsch

If you read posts I have made elsewhere, you will see I am anything but a "hater".

    For instance:

    - I think Calzaghe is the best 168 fighter ever on achievement

    - I think he is 1 of the greatest British fighters ever

    - I think he should be p4p#2 just now (though I'd move JMM above him if JMM beats Casamayor while Calzaghe is training for this farce with RJJ)

    - I put him top 10-15 of his era

    Does that sound like hatred?

No, it sounds like you are being a child. I am a boxing fan- looking at fighters and resumes critically is not hate.

For the record, I think Joe Calzaghe is very talented, a great fighter, but his resume was shocking from 1997-2006, and since then it has improved to an ok resume, with a good win over Lacy, a very good win over Kessler, and a win over Hopkins (but I don't place too much importance on the last one as I thought Joe was poor on the night).

Yes, this has been the dictionary definition of hatred. Not objective criticism and rational evaluation, just BLIND HATE. Grow the **** up.

Well we all have our opinions, so we'll just have to agree to disagree on Kessler.

Really quite similar to Tito at MW.

Tito had proved his ability in his career though. And stopping a big unbeaten lightmiddleweight champ then KO'ing the WBA middleweight champ show he was capable of doing it v bigger guys (were they actually bigger than Tito really though??)

At the time Lacy had proved nothing except a good punch. He has done nothing at all since. He cannot be compared to Trinidad in any way IMO.

As I said, he looked soft at MW against Hopkins, not a lot of muscle on his frame. He was a good MW, but limited against the best opposition, similar to how Lacy was at the time Calzaghe got to him. Difference is, Lacy was ruined, Tito rebounded. Tito is a much greater fighter than Lacy, just not at the higher weights.

That should give you an idea of how highly regarded Lacy was at the time. In hindsight it's utterly ridiculous, Lacy was obviously overrated, but Calzaghe was also very underrated and proved his stripes in that fight.

Sure is nowadays and in recent years, but at the time Hopkins fought him I'm not so sure of that. He was nowhere near elite level at the time Hopkins beat him, he was basically a punching bag in that fight, and fought with nowhere near the style he does now. The Johnson of recent times and the version then are two totally different fighters really.

So you are telling me that people like Robin Reid, Charles Brewer, Byron Mitchell (who again everyone was tipping to KO Joe), Omar Sheika, Richie Woodhall is a shocking resume? And not as good as the likes of Robert Allen and the rest of the bums Hopkins fought? Un****ingbelievable!

I also bet you were one of the people tipping Lacy to dismantle Joe only to then say that he was one-dimensional and overrated etc.

Calzaghe > Trinidad (great fighter too small)
Calzaghe > De la Hoya (great fighter too small)
Calzaghe > Tarver (the only one that Joe could potentially face that Hopkins has)

Of course the top 2 could never have fought Joe because of the weight but Hopkins chose to beat on small guys. The only big risk he ever took (apart from Jones when he was younger) was jumping 2 weight classes to fight Tarver (I wonder why he jumped 2 and didn't try out 168? :think)

The only boxer that Hopkins has ever defeated that he deserves the utmost respect for is Tarver, all the others he had by far the superior advantage in size and you know it.

There is still a chance Hopkins will add a win over Pavlik to his resume. A prime p4p top ten guy.

If he manages to do it then he deserves massive praise no doubt. Very interesting fight that one.

Lets cut the bull**** Hopkins has the better resume, Yea hes priced himself out of some fights i.e Jones rematch and a Calzaghe fight because hes a stubbon SOB but Tito is a good win he was undefeated and the red hot Favourite and destroyed Joppy,Calzaghe fought Lacy who was green and lacked boxing skill and just got past a 43 year old past his prime Bhop the one win he gets credit for is Kessler and to all the Calzaghe Fans why didnt he give Reid the rematch he promised him after there close fight?
