Of all the guys you mentioned, only Byron Mitchell was a strong opponent with chance of an upset- but you're wrong, Calzaghe was favourite to win, I remember that distinctly. Woodhall and Reid held 1 version of the world title for a brief spell, but were never genuine world class IMO- hence the reason they never won another title. Have a look at Charles Brewer's record before you mention him. Yes, he was American, but no he was not quality opposition.

However, nowhere have I said the bulk of Hopkins's wins were better than the bulk of Calzaghe's- what I have said is that Hopkins has some standout wins that are more numerous and better than those of Calzaghe.

Calzaghe > Tarver (the only one that Joe could potentially face that Hopkins has) - Glen Johnson? I forgot- Joe pulled out of that fight. He could've fought Wright instead of Lacy as well, Wright was top 5 p4p, and he had just drawn with Taylor- he had nowhere else to go at that stage.

(I wonder why he jumped 2 and didn't try out 168? :think) - how does it make sense to imply Hopkins was scared of Joe, when he did fight him right after that?? :patsch

I also bet you were one of the people tipping Lacy to dismantle Joe only to then say that he was one-dimensional and overrated - Well you would lose then, as I wasn't. I knew Joe would outbox him, though I didn't think it would be so emphatic. I never bought into the Lacy hype. I did think Kessler had a chance though. I was surprised by how good Joe was that night.

The only boxer that Hopkins has ever defeated that he deserves the utmost respect for is Tarver - Have you actuallu heard of Glen Johnson??

all the others he had by far the superior advantage in size and you know it - Glen Johnson Glen Johnson Glen Johnson. And Winky was a middleweight for years, like Hopkins. And Trinidad was giving away only slight size disadvantage (probably less than Lacy gave away v Calzaghe).

No, it isn't. I thought you had saw Calzaghe v Hopkins? B-Hop is almost 44. It was clear he doesn't have the stamina any more. At his peak, Hopkins schools Pavlik. This Hopkins is a long way from his peak. Pavlik by wide UD.

I agree that Hopkins schools Pavlik in his prime. Pavlik is 1 dimensional but effective and I'm not writing off Hopkins completely.

Like I said I believe it's a very interesting fight but may not turn out to be the most exciting.

Calzaghe fans are more of a joke than Calzaghe himself.

Instead of just making this go on for 30 pages, I decided to sum up your thoughts in one concise statement for anyone just now jumping in the thread. :thumbsup

in ten years time b-hop will look back in fondness over his career i honestly believe calzaghe will look back and ask himself why he wasted most his career he had the style to beat a lot of the top fighters of today but wasted it (note i said style not skill i think his skills are overrated but his style would give most fits)
